The Barn on the Hill
The Barn on the Hill is an old dairy barn with the collection of original sliding doors that allow natural light to pour in. The Barn on the Hill radiates simple elegance. The thousands of white lights strung from the beams give our welcoming space a warm comfortable feel for up to 250 guests. Set on 7.5 acres - plenty of space to make it your own for the event you envision, whether it be a birthday, graduation, anniversary, shower, reunion, corporate retreat, rehearsal, or wedding. We are a rural private venue located 20 miles southwest of Rockford, Illinois. We are located midway between Leaf River, IL and Byron, IL on Route 72.
The Freeport Club
The Freeport Club enjoys a reputation as one of the finest golf courses in Northern Illinois. The challenging design of the well-manicured course winds through a park-like setting of rolling fairways lined with mature trees. The natural rolling terrain, elevation changes, and small-fast greens create a unique playing experience that will test golfers of all skill levels. Condition and playability is the top priority. The Freeport Club’s PGA Professional plans and coordinates a full-season of men’s, ladies, singles, couples, social golf, and competitive tournaments plus a junior golf program that targets youth up to the age of 16. Tuttys Crossing Trailhead
Tutty’s Crossing Trailhead provides easy access to the Jane Addams Trail and to the Pecatonica Prairie Trail (under development). It is located on the banks of the Pecatonica River. A bridge, part of the Pecatonica Prairie Trail, crosses the river and provides scenic views. The Trailhead provides parking, a boat ramp, and walking area. Future planned developments include a shelter/restroom, fishing/observation pier, picnic tables, and floating dock. Open: Dawn to Dusk
Jane Addams Trail
This multi-use 17 mile trail offers beautiful scenery and 22 bridges, including a covered bridge in Orangeville, passing wetlands, creeks, woods, prairies, geologic formations and farmland. The trail, named after Jane Addams, the Nobel Peace Prize humanitarian and Hull House settlement founder born and raised in nearby Cedarville, is part of the Grand Illinois Trail which traverses northern Illinois from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi River. The 13 miles of the trail is a crushed limestone surface which may be used by hikers, bicyclists, snowmobilers, and cross-country skiers. Trail maps are available.
Taylor Park - Freeport
Taylor Park was originally a trotting-horse track and gives this park its oval shape and flat terrain. There are picnic areas shelters, playground areas, a three-diamond lighted softball complex, a tennis court, a basketball court, and a sand volleyball court. A concession stand is open during softball season.
Sand Bluff Bird Observatory
A fascinating opportunity to see a wide variety of migrating birds banded and released. Special events in spring and fall, including the annual BirdFest in early May. Located in the Colored Sands Forest Preserve in the northwestern corner of Winnebago County. Colored Sands, site of original and restored prairies, is one of the most beautiful natural areas in northern Illinois.
Richland Creek Wetlands
This wetlands conservation area adjacent to the Jane Addams Recreation Trail features a walkout with an observation deck and benches and a rustic covered bridge on the Trail itself.

Brush Creek Golf Course
This is a 9-hole, 36 par, 3218 yard course set on challenging terrain with three sets of tees. Weekday and Weekend Green Fees: 9 holes - $10: 18 holes - $13.00; Motorized Cart Rental: 9 holes - $10.00 per seat; 18 - holes - $14 per seat.

Park Hills Golf Course
This award-winning (3 1/2 stars in Golf Digest) public course offers incomparable playing conditions on two 18 hole, 72-par courses. Angelic Organics Learning Center
We offer public and custom programs for children, adults, and families on our beautiful, organic farm to help build the local food system. Whether its a day camp or a cheese making workshop, participants gain hands-on experience preparing farm-fresh food, from field to table, while learning about organic agriculture and the whole farm system in the process. The Learning Center also offers farmer training and support to beginning farmers and facilitates youth-led urban agriculture projects in Chicago and Rockford.

Rivers Edge Campground
Rivers Edge Campground has modern facilities in a rustic, historical area. Amenities include a Pecatonica River boat ramp, fishing on Pecatonica, Sugar and Rock Rivers, a private pond, pavilion, basketball and golf courses nearby.
Cedarville Skate Park
Skaters of all skill levels will enjoy the half and quarter pipes, pyramid, "roller coaster" and kink rails on the 750 square foot skate pad. The skate park is also open to bikes. The Forest Preserve has one outdoor skating rink and warming shelter - open weekends.

Byron Recreational Path
Biking, running, and walking path. Starts at Byron Forest Preserve and crosses the Rock River to Sunshine Park then north of town.
