Welcome to the Backwoods! We are dedicated to providing top quality, home grown products in a family friendly atmosphere. Please come and enjoy the great outdoors with us. We started growing specialty crops in 1990 with a few blackberries. We have since expanded into asparagus, berries, peaches, and canned & baked goods. Pick up fruits of the season from the roadside stand or head to the fields to pick your own strawberries, black raspberries or asparagus.
Ride the Big Eli Wheel at Community Park. Similar to the Ferris wheel, Eli Wheels are more compact and easily movable. The Eli Bridge Company still manufactures these wheels and other amusement rides in Jacksonville.

Completed in the Summer of 2006, these 10 murals depicting historic Jacksonville scenes and events were handpainted by more than 50 sign painters and graphic artists from as far away as Scotland and New Zealand.

As you drive along the Hillview Scenic Bluff Road you experience a rare opportunity to visualize the pristine natural beauty of the early nineteenth century, agricultural farming of the river delta, the architectural significance of the early English settlers in their hi-style limestone homesteads, as well as the original beaut of the native prairie grasses that roll gently up into the limestone palisades along the river valley. This lower Illinois River Valley region is known by many archeologists to be the "Nile of the North America." Check out the online map of this trail in Greene County where you can click to learn of the early people and places of Green County's Lower Illinois Valley. While out driving the trail, please remember that most of the sites on the map are easily seen from the road and all are on private property.
Located inside Jacksonville Community Park, the Skate Park is a new facility featuring a 5,000-square-foot concrete pad with 10 pieces of equipment including grind boxes, grind rails, 1/4 pipes & 1/2 pipes.
Supplement and Nutrition store to meet all your supplement needs! Indoor playground, Rock Climbing, and American Ninja Warrior Obstacles! Krush offers a Play Zone for children ages 12 and under. Inside the Play Zone, kids can jump on trampolines, play in the toddler area, slide down multiple slides, and climb up the tires or the alternating steps to reach the fort near the ceiling. There are also kids ninja obstacles. The Warrior Zone allows you to rock climb (ages 8 and up) or test out your Ninja skills on the American Ninja Warrior obstacles (ages 13 and up). The Ninja course contains 20 obstacles from the show including the warped wall, cliff hanger, and salmon ladder.

Not your ordinary youth baseball and softball parks, the fields here are entirely covered in Players Turf, making it virtually rain-out proof and allowing for a variety of different levels of play. Facilities are lighted, and include 20-foot scoreboards, concrete dugouts, concession stands and sound systems.
The 9-hole "Lone Oak" executive course at the Lone Oak Golf Course facility in Carrollton features 2,150 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 32. Designed by George DeGeal, the Lone Oak golf course opened in 1984.
The McCully Heritage Project is a natural area made up of 940 acres of hills and hollows in Calhoun County, Illinois. The project offers 15 miles of hiking and horse back riding trails, two ponds for fishing and turtle watching, a wetland with a boardwalk, a hill prairie plot and more. Hiking is pleasant even in the summer as the wooded trails provide plenty of shade. Facilities are available for group activities, large and small. The focus of the McCully Heritage Project is upon cultural and environmental enjoyment, education, and preservation. The general public is welcome to hike, picnic, bird watch, and enjoy the natural beauty of the site. The McCully Heritage Project is located about 1 mile south of Kampsville, Illinois, off of Illinois Route 100. Take Crawford Creek Road west about 1/2 mile to MHP.
McMaster Woods is a beautiful oak woodland and barrens that occurs on deep ravines, steep slopes and a ridgetop. Limestone bedrock outcrops along the bases of ravines and an intermittent stream crosses the northwest corner of the preserve. A great variety of wildflowers, grasses, sedges and ferns occur here, including large-flowered bellwort, spikenard, false dragonhead, wood reed and maidenhair fern. A small, but interesting barrens remnant occurs on the ridgetop. At 2300-yards Nothridge Hills offers a course with rolling terrain and challenging greens. With three lakes and a creek in play on seven holes, an errant ball can easily find water. For those of you that hit’em straight, the well groomed fairways provide a safe haven for par-saving approach shots. In addition to this, our practice area consists of a twenty station driving range and a 6000 square foot practice green. If honing your golfing skills is what you desire, Northridge Hills is the place to be. Northridge Hills has a Course Slope and Rating of 104 and 31.2 respectively.
This state-of-the-art playground also boasts a splash and play pad that is accessible to people of all abilities. This free park is open year-round, with the splash pad available from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
With nearly 1,100 of its 1,380 acres primarily composed of oak and hickory stands, this area offers exceptional habitat for deer and squirrel, and is a good hunting area as well. In the winter, sight-seers ofter spot bald eagles along the Illinois River.

The 9-hole "Terry Park" course at the Terry Park Golf Course facility in Palmyra, Illinois features 2,814 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35 . The course rating is 33.2 and it has a slope rating of 100. Designed by Freeman Barber, the Terry Park golf course opened in 1929.
This nine- and 18-hole championship golf course features a driving range and practice green. Bar and grill featuring Video gaming, cold drinks (and hot), great food. Open to public 9 am to 6 pm.
No fee for camping but campers must register with the Police Department. Boat motors with 5HP or less allowed. Fishing is allowed at the lake. No swimming.
