Long Prairie Trail
This 14.6 mile paved recreational trail runs south of Illinois Route 173 and winds past the Northern Boone County towns of Caledonia, Capron, Belvidere and Poplar Grove.
Just miles off I-55, I-70, and I-270, the park has easy access and has many features for travelers, like a petting zoo, playground equipment, picnic pavilions and a small lake.
Rock River Cruise
For those with an urge to explore a genuine Illinois prairie, this ride takes you past one of the largest pieces of preserved prairie in the state. The Rock River Cruise is 34.7-miles of moderate difficulty, with a few small climbs along the way. Stop off and visit some of the many attractions along the way, including the John Deere Historic Site and the charming town of Oregon.
The marina is surrounded by a nine acre green space with shelter and electricity for picnics or family reunions; public restrooms with showers; playground; grills and picnic tables. For more information on rentals, the picnic shelter, or winter storage, contact the marina or visit their website.

Palmer Park Chicago
The park is named for Potter Palmer (1826–1902), a successful businessman and real estate investor concerned with the development of Chicago. Palmer was responsible for reclaiming the acres of swampland north of the city's business district, which were developed into the Lake Shore Drive area. He built the original baseball field for the Cubs' predecessor, the Chicago White Stockings, and built the Palmer House Hotel. Palmer Park was created in 1904 by the South Park Commission. Under the guidance of superintendent J. Frank Foster, the commission opened ten new neighborhood parks, including Palmer Park, in an effort to create breathing space and recreational areas in the city's crowded tenement districts. These parks were built by Olmsted Brothers landscape architects and D.H. Burnham and Co. architects.
The land for Scripps Park was donated by the Scripps family. The park was the site of the homestead of the Scripps family, pioneers in journalism. Scripps Park offers a swimming pool, tennis courts, the Virginia community building, playground, picnic area, baseball diamonds, and two guest houses for rent. The golf course is an 18-hole public course built in 1923 with irrigation from tee to green. There are approximately 16 bunkers strategically placed around the course and water hazards are in play.

Located in the Colored Sands Forest Preserve in the northwestern corner of Winnebago County. Hillview Scenic Bluff Trail
As you drive along the Hillview Scenic Bluff Road you experience a rare opportunity to visualize the pristine natural beauty of the early nineteenth century, agricultural farming of the river delta, the architectural significance of the early English settlers in their hi-style limestone homesteads, as well as the original beaut of the native prairie grasses that roll gently up into the limestone palisades along the river valley. This lower Illinois River Valley region is known by many archeologists to be the "Nile of the North America." Check out the online map of this trail in Greene County where you can click to learn of the early people and places of Green County's Lower Illinois Valley. While out driving the trail, please remember that most of the sites on the map are easily seen from the road and all are on private property.

Scripps Park Golf Course
Scripps Park Golf Course was originally built as a 9-hole course in 1923. The original 9 has many rolling fairways with bunkered greens and challenging water hazards. In 2002 the course expanded to 18 holes with the back 9 having the open feeling of a "links style" course. The wide fairways and creative hazards complement the demanding greens. All 18 holes are irrigated and provide consistent play from early spring to late fall. The course is long enough to be enjoyably challenging but easily accessible to walkers as well as cart players. You can purchase annual individual or family passes or pay by the round. Cart rental and a well stocked pro shop is available. The course can also accommodate groups and corporate outings.
Angelic Organics Learning Center
We offer public and custom programs for children, adults, and families on our beautiful, organic farm to help build the local food system. Whether its a day camp or a cheese making workshop, participants gain hands-on experience preparing farm-fresh food, from field to table, while learning about organic agriculture and the whole farm system in the process.
