Ethnic Heritage Museum

Categories: ARTS & CULTUREHISTORY

The museum exhibits reveal the history and early beginnings of the six ethnic groups that settled in southwest Rockford, where the city began. The museum's new addition, The Lockwood Gallery, accommodates school groups, workshops, programs and tour groups. Visitors may also explore the six ethnic galleries to see the ever-changing themed exhibits: African American, Hispanic, Irish, Italian, Lithuanian and Polish. During January the museum is closed for winter break. It opens again in February and remains open every Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Pre-registration other days for group tours is encouraged by calling the museum at 815-962-7402. The museum is handicapped accessible. Admission: $3 student, $5 individual, $10 family.
