Hometown Christmas

Kick off the holiday season in Effingham as the community celebrates a Hometown Christmas on Saturday, November 28th in downtown Effingham. Welcome Santa to town at 4 p.m. as he travels down Jefferson Street arriving on the west side of the Courthouse square lawn. Santa will then make his way to his house to greet and hand out treats to all of the children who come to visit him. Carolers will be filling the air with your favorite Christmas songs throughout the evening. There will also be complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides around the downtown area, along with children’s activities and other goodies. Santa will continue making visits to the Courthouse location throughout the holiday season. And be sure to stop by the Effingham CVB's tent in the downtown area to get some free Effingham souvenirs and register to win a great family-friendly Effingham basket! Stick around downtown for the official lighting of the City of Effingham Community Christmas Tree by Santa and Mayor Gillenwater at 6:30 p.m. We’ll countdown and watch downtown become a beautiful winter wonderland!
