This on-campus facility that has been the site of 163 wins by the NIU football team over the last 50 seasons, four MAC Championship teams and many of the greatest players in school history. Dedicated on November 6, 1965, with a 48-6 NIU win over Illinois State on Homecoming, the stadium was named Huskie Stadium in 1974 as part of NIU's 75th Anniversary celebration. On August 28, 2003, the facility was rededicated as Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium in honor of the late Dr. Robert J. Brigham, an institutional icon who carried the school's colors for more than 50 years as a student-athlete, assistant coach, head coach, director of athletics, and special assistant to the president before his retirement in June 2001. The facility has also been the site of NIU field hockey and soccer matches, high school football games, including the 2013, 2015 & 2017 Illinois High School Association Football Championships, drum corps competitions, community events and even weddings.
