Off Square Music's Open Mic Nights take place on the second and fourth Fridays of every month (first and third Fridays in August) at the Stage Left Café on the historic Woodstock Square. The evening starts at 7 pm, offering seasoned professionals and up and coming artists an opportunity to showcase their talents. A featured performer anchors each open mic night.

The three-hour workshop – made possible with a grant from the Illinois Arts Council – is meant to help participants write poems that may be submitted for VOLTA, an innovative arts program sponsored by the Vachel Lindsay Association and the Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation each spring. The centerpiece of Clayville is the Broadwell Inn, the oldest brick building in Sangamon County, built in 1824 by the Broadwell family as a stage coach stop between Springfield and Beardstown. The Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is surrounded by numerous other historic buildings from Central Illinois moved to Clayville in the 1960s to recreate an early frontier pioneer village. Come see a unique piece of Illinois history.
