Edwards Apple Orchard West
Edwards West is a popular destination for families to enjoy the sights, tastes, and activities of an apple orchard and farm market. For a fun family outing, enjoy the experience of picking your own apples, pumpkins and raspberries. Visit the play area featuring the wooden bus and train, the corn cribs, the wagon slide and our animals in the "Petting Farm." Blackhawk Farms Raceway challenges both amateur, as well as, professional drivers. They have everything from autocross and driver’s schools, to wheel-to wheel racing. They have a variety of participating car, motorcycle, bicycle & kart organizations such as SCCA, Midwestern Council, River Valley Kart Club, Championship Cup Series, Porsche Club of America Chicago Region, Burnham Racing and Xtreme Xperience to name but a few. Spectators are always welcome.

Pearl Lake Campground - South Beloit
Whether you spend a weekend, a month or all season, if you are a camper who enjoys peace and quiet, Pearl Lake is the place for you. Basic tenting sites and sites with electricity and water are available. Phone service is available at selected sites. A disposal station and a pumping service, restrooms have flush toilets and hot water showers. A large sand beach has plenty of room for sunning and a gently sloping bottom for safe and enjoyable swimming. Although swimming is at one's own risk, trained lifeguards are on duty whenever the beach is open. A bath house is located adjacent to the beach, and the Snack Bar offers a variety of food including burgers, hot dogs and ice cream.

Sand Bluff Bird Observatory
A fascinating opportunity to see a wide variety of migrating birds banded and released. Special events in spring and fall, including the annual BirdFest in early May. Located in the Colored Sands Forest Preserve in the northwestern corner of Winnebago County. Colored Sands, site of original and restored prairies, is one of the most beautiful natural areas in northern Illinois.

This beautiful 18-hole, par 71 course was built in the 1930s with limited sand traps and one pond. It's located in Rockton, near the site of the earliest white settlement in Northern Illinois.
Nygren Wetland Preserve
Nygren Wetland Preserve is a 721-acre tract near the confluence of the Rock River and Pecatonica River, making it an important stopover and nesting spot for many species of birds including Sandhill Cranes. The Natural Land Institute, a private, not-for-profit land conservation organization, owns the preserve and began restoration of prairies, wetlands and woodlands to the area in 2000.

Macktown Living History Education Center
Built in 1834 on the Pecatonica River by fur trader Stephen Mack, one of the area's first settlers. See the walnut cradle Mack made for his children, plus Native American artifacts, donated by Mack's descendents. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Macktown is where Stephen Mack, his Native American wife, Hononegah, and the people who inhabited the village conducted their daily business. Remnants of 8,000 years of Native American occupation of this same site can be seen. Stephen Mack’s Home and the Whitman Trading Post still stand, and a reconstruction of the village is being undertaken, including the disassembly of the 2-story shop and schoolroom to be rebuilt at its original site. There are many historic and prehistoric artifacts in the Education Center.
Rockton Christmas Walk Weekend
The 30th annual Rockton Christmas Walk events include the Lighting of the Park, Candy Cane Craft Fair, Lighted Parade, pictures with Santa, Christmas carolers, and you can take a Candy Cane Craft Show, and horse drawn wagon rides.
