Land of the Free, Home of the Brave: Aurora's Independence Day Celebration
The City of Aurora's Fourth of July Parade is a popular, not-to-miss parade for the whole family. This year's theme is "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave." Join the thousands of spectators lining the downtown parade route and display your patriotism and civic pride while watching the fabric of the community pass in front of you. The event will begin with a pre-parade ceremony at 9:15 a.m. outside the Paramount Theatre After the parade, enjoy free family activities and fireworks in two locations. Fireworks Celebration: the City of Lights will live up to its name with a pyrotechnic extravaganza illuminating the night sky with a rainbow of colors! Free park and ride shuttle service available 6-9 pm.
ByronFest, one of the finest family festivals in Northern Illinois, offers a wide variety of music, kid-friendly events, sports competitions, food booths and more! The main stage venues are located in Byron's downtown area and additional events are held in other venues throughout the city.
Chairs on Parade
Chairs on Parade is an event where Carlinville businesses purchases a chair and decorates it to their liking. The event is all about bringing old fashioned fun, family and shopping together while supporting the local business community. The chairs will be on display outside of the businesses beginning on Saturday, August 6th. Part of the event includes the first ever Carlinville Restaurant Week from Monday, August 22nd through Sunday, August 28th, celebrating local food establishments and retail stores. The highlight of that week will occur on Friday, August 26th with a flotilla parade and afterwards an auction for chairs that are donated back to Shop Local First. The profit from the chairs will go to the local food bank. The night will also include Mid-West Largest Squirt Gun fight, and a street party with Captain Geech & The Shrimp Shack Shooters rock band.
The Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival features 40 hot air balloons, races, glows, tethered balloon rides, main stage entertainment, craft fair, free children's activity area and games, cardboard boat races, car show, fireworks and much more.
CU Pride Fest
Come out, come out wherever you are for the second annual CU Pride Fest, brought to you by the Uniting Pride Center of Champaign County! Check out the vendor and community booths, join in the family friendly activities, enjoy performances, and enter the raffle.
Cowden Pioneer Days
This family friendly festival is set in the city park with plenty of carnival rides, craft vendors, flea market, foods, etc. There is also an IPRA sanctioned rodeo that takes place Friday. A demolition derby takes place on Saturday. You can also enjoy the arm wrestling. There will also be a large parade Saturday morning. Tour the historical cabins set in the park.
Danvers Days is fun filled family festivities featuring entertainment, food, raffles, kids games, Bingo and Tug of War. Frankfort Fall Festival
The Frankfort Fall Festival is ranked in the top 15 shows to visit by Sunshine Artist. There are 300 artisan from 30 states selling hand-crafted items at our show which includes local civic organizations selling food items, a carnival, entertainment and a community parade.
Ol’ Fashion Christmas
Start the day off at 9am with having breakfast with Santa, make-it and take-it ornaments for kids, edible Christmas ornaments for wildlife, train and carriage rides, candy cane hunt, viewing mini Christmas trees, and a chocolate fair. Parade features floats, marching bands, and Santa. Dusk falls and tens of thousands of lights light up the decorations at Veteran’s Park downtown Galva. Enjoy the Galva Arts Council entertainment in the evening.
Antique Engine & Tractor Association Working Farm Show
Visit the 50-acre showground and experience the fall harvest early 1900’s style. Event features the historical value of collection and exhibition of gasoline and steam tractors, power driven farm machinery and other equipment through field demonstrations, displays of gas engines, garden tractors, farm tractors and equipment. Tractor pulls, craft demonstrations, speakers, children activities and music are featured daily. Food is available and parking is free. Take the kids on a train ride throughout the showground. .
Geneseo Christmas Walk
Geneseo’s spirit sparkles downtown with Christmas magic in the air. Each storefront window has family, friends and even animals depicting various scenes. Enjoy chestnuts roasting. Make memories for young and old. Join the Jingle Bell Run and other family activities during the afternoon and enjoy the lighted Christmas parade at 5PM. Watch for Santa. Hours: 8am to 9pm.
4th of July Celebration events includes: Freedom Run a 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run; a gospel show; a parade; free concert at the City Park and much more. Capping off the Freedom Fest is one of the largest fireworks display in Southern Illinois.
Grayslake Summer Days
Family music festival with activities for the entire family. Music, carnival games, food vendors, business booth area and "Grayslake's Got Talent" Contest. Bike and pet parade - 12 noon Saturday. 44th Annual Gurnee Days Celebration
Gurnee Days returns this week for 4 days of family fun. Independence Day Celebration with a flag ceremony to kick things off. There are bands, entertainment, a parade, raffle , free carnival, and fireworks.
The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival
The Great Highwood Pumpkin Fest will boast fan favorites including all you can carve pumpkins, Trick or Treating, costume contests, Pumpkin Parade, hay rides, pony rides, petting zoo, carnival rides, kids crafts, two stages jam packed with solid entertainment, food and beverage vendors galore and a Superhero 5K Pumpkin Run/Walk. As always, all lit jack-o-lanterns will be placed on pumpkin walls throughout the Festival grounds, with ceremonial wall lightings Friday and Saturday nights, and the grand lighting on Sunday evening.
32nd Annual Cruise Nite and Classic Car Show
Being one of the largest cruise nights in Illinois, this event attracts individuals across the state. The Cruise Nite & Car Show brings in classic and antique autos for a full day and night of fun for the whole family. Attend the car show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then watch and cruise that evening from 5 to 9 p.m.
Jacksonville's 4th of July Blast
Celebrate America and show off your patriotism at Jacksonville's 4th of July Blast! This two day celebration begins at Nichols Park at 6 p.m. on July 3rd and ends after fireworks on July 4th. Jersey County Fair
