Fall Horse Plowing Days at Rockome Gardens

Rockome Gardens hosts its annual Fall Horse Plowing Days event - come see the horses in action plowing the farmland by traditional methods. The 20-acre theme park is an ideal setting for great music, and also offers the Illinois Amish Interpretive Center, a cheese factory, candy shop, bakery, ice cream shop, snack shack, general store and beautiful flower gardens.

Evergreen Cemetery Discovery Walk

The Evergreen Cemetery Discovery Walk brings history to life through costumed actors assuming the intriguing characters of McLean County’s ancestors in the beautiful grounds of Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Franklin Grove Summer Harvest Festival

The 34th Annual Franklin Grove Summer Harvest Festival is a city-wide celebration of the area's heritage with a wide variety of activities and events for all to enjoy. The festival includes a pancake breakfast, village-wide yard sales, tours of the H.I. Lincoln Building, the Franklin Grove Art & Fiber Festival, the Living History Antique Equipment Show and parade plus tours of the Franklin Creek Grist Mill and Nachusa Grasslands. Arrival at Camp River Dubois

This annual event commemorates December 12, the day William Clark and the men of the detachment arrived at the confluence of the Riviere a Dubois, Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. The event will include members of the detachment portraying military life, re-enactors recreating the civilian population and demonstrations.

Jersey County Victorian Festival

History comes to life annual at the Jersey County Victorian Festival with a celebration of educational, historical and cultural aspects of our agricultural history. Experience the Civil War Era through re-enactments and encampments. Working crafts and demonstrations, antique displays, tours of the 1866 Fulkerson Mansion, period food and bluegrass music make this an outstanding family event. Old Settlers Days

Calhoun County was a wild rugged land, and its fall re-enactment festival embraces its past history. Kelloggs's Grove Living History

The Kellogg's Grove Living History will be held at the Black Hawk War Monument, on Monument Road east of Kent. The event will feature period cooking, musket firing demonstrations, milita drills, large Pit Saw Rig, talks and speeches on the Battle of Kellegg's Grove and the Balckhawk War. Author Patrick Jung will be the featured speaker. Jay Castro will be on site displaying his Lincoln statue. Please bring seating and picnic baskets and enjoy a slice of 1830's.

Fort Massac Encampment

This annual reenactment of late-1700s Illinois life on the frontier prairie features blanket traders, merchants, military units, fife and drum corps, and period-style food from more than 20 vendors. The encampment offers military drills, mock battles, along with story telling and children's activities.

Canal Boat and Trolley Tours

Lincoln's Ghost Walks - Legends and Lore

Take a 90-minute nighttime tour of sites throughout Springfield that are linked to spirited stories about Lincoln’s life and death. Founder Garret Moffett based the tour partly on local lore about Lincoln’s visions and dreams, as well as on reported ghost sightings.

114th Infantry Regiment Flag Lowering Ceremony

The Regiment, in authentic Civil War uniforms, demonstrates drill movements and performs a beautiful flag-lowering ceremony in front of the Lincoln Tomb. The flag is presented to a member of the audience. Ceremony every Tuesday evening.

50th IPRA Championship Rodeo

The Rodeo celebrates it's 50 years with a Friday night concert featuring Bella Cain, Jessica Rae and Ricky Nelson. Saturday the Wauconda's annual rodeo once again shoots out of the gate at the Golden Oaks Equestrian Center with professional rodeo performances beginning at 7pm. Dazzling routines by the Midwest Renegade Equestrian Drill Team along with six exciting rodeo events including Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Cowgirl Barrel Racing, Steer Roping and Tie-Down Roping. Guests can also enjoy a live band before and after Saturday's rodeo show. The fun returns on Sunday at 1pm for Family Day featuring exciting events for registered children between the ages of four to eleven, as well as a petting zoo and pony rides.
