Annual Recreational League Soccer Tournament for ages 5 to 18. Hosted by Marion Soccer, Inc. and held at the Marion Soccer Complex. This invitational tournament will bring over 100 teams from six states to play for the Whirlwind Title.
The 4th Annual Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon is set to take place in May of 2017! Be one of the first people to run through and around Starved Rock Country. The course will encompass the scenery of the Illinois River and the rolling landscapes in and around Starved Rock State Park. Runners will experience a course that is not a flat fast course as other courses advertise, the course has characteristics that will inspire you with scenic beauty and experience the highs and lows of the hills created by the Illinois River thousands of years ago.

Danville Area Community College and the City of Danville will again host the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament at the DACC campus March 18-22, 2014. This year marks the 21st year that Danville has hosted the tournament and the 29th year of the tournament.

The Ironwood Golf Course is the Town's full service golf facility with 18 holes, 7,100 yards and a par 72 championship layout playing from 5400-7100 yards with four sets of tees. The course offers cart rental, a driving range and has a pro shop with club rental. Ironwood was designed by highly regarded golf course designer Roger Packard and meanders through the Ironwood residential subdivision. Opened in 1990, Ironwood Golf Course has hosted numerous high school regional, sectional and conference tournaments, collegiate invitational tournaments, local charity events and site of C.D.G.A and U.S.G.A. qualifiers.

History could be made this coming weekend when a field of 456 wrestlers from 134 schools across the state will compete in the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) state wrestling finals at the 37th annual Boys State Wrestling Tournament held at the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.
