This one hour musical play tells the story of life in the early 1840s, as immigrants came up the Mississippi River to Nauvoo on the Maid of Iowa, a beautiful little paddle-wheeler. You’ll laugh at the antics of young Eli, thrill at the dancing and music, and feel the depth of devotion of these early settlers in Nauvoo as they face the martyrdom of their leader, and the violent and dangerous exodus from their homes in the middle of winter. Tickets are free but required for admission.

Nauvoo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The Nauvoo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was rebuilt in Nauvoo, one of the early settlements of the Mormon people. The structure is 150 ft tall and overlooks the Mississippi River. The temple was reconstructed on the site of the original, which was built between 1841 and 1846. The temple is a beautiful building and a "must-see" when visiting Nauvoo. The interior is not open to visitors, however gardens on the grounds and stunning exterior architecture bring visitors to the top of the bluffs to see the structure.
Nauvoo Temple & Grounds
The Nauvoo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was recently rebuilt in Nauvoo, one of the early settlements of the Mormon people. The structure is 150 feet tall and overlooks the Mississippi River. Sacred ordinances are performed daily in the Nauvoo Temple, therefore the building is not available for tourist visits. Although situated near Old Nauvoo and the wonderful historic sites down on the "flats," the home sits on quiet end of Knight Street and backs to a large communal back yard with a well-equipped pavilion that is also available for day-rental. Perfect for large groups or small families. The home sleeps ten comfortably with five bedrooms--four of them in the historic part of the house, and one in the loft. Two have king beds, and three queens. The large living room downstairs has lots of lounge and sitting room and a gas fireplace. Lake Hill Winery was built, not only to be a winery, but to be a gathering place and have the ability to hold a wide variety of functions. Besides the wine production, there is a tasting room bar, a small gift shop, and two banquet rooms. The first is the barrel room, which holds 100 people. This room is typically booked for smaller events such as reunions, rehearsal dinners, showers, company parties, birthday parties, etc. The other banquet room is the main hall. With two levels, capacity for over 400 people, a 160" TV/projector, and two bars, this room is capable of accommodating almost any event.

New to the museum are the Funeral Customs display and the "Lincoln: Making of the Man" display. The majority of the collection was generously donate by Dr. Alice Kibbe.
Joseph Smith Historic Site
The Joseph Smith Historic Site retells the story of the Latter Day Saint movement in Nauvoo during the early 1840s. Within the Visitor Center, guests will find original paintings of Nauvoo by David Hyrum Smith as well as other artifacts and information about the city and its people. Guided walking tours begin at the Visitors Center, starting with a short film and continuing through the Smith family's homes.
James Myler Manor
Ground floor accommodations include a master bedroom/bath suite featuring a king size bed and a double queen room across the hall. A basic equipped kitchen, dining room, bath and a two story great room with a large screen TV complete the first floor. The back of the home is open and airy with two story windows that give you a beautiful view of the common area. Upstairs, there is a loft with seating and a secretary's desk, two more baths and three bedrooms, including a duplicate of the master suite on the first floor, a single queen bedroom and a large queen bedroom with four singles in two bunk beds. Each bedroom has a large closet and is furnished with a large dresser. In the basement there are laundry facilities, another bathroom and four twin beds. Constructed in 2006, the floor plan is 2,690 square feet and sleeps sixteen to twenty guests. The home has five bedrooms and six full bathrooms between the three levels. The two story great room with living area, dining area and large windows provide an excellent view of the Hyrum Kimball Village Pavilion and recreation area. The home is fully furnished and tastefully decorated.

Hyrum Smith Farm
The Hyrum Smith Farm is perfect for extended family get-togethers! This historic farm is just one mile from the temple and sleeps up to twenty comfortably. A complete remodel was finished in May 2008 and the home was made ready for families to enjoy beginning June 2008. The original pioneer brick home is 16 x 24 and is used as a dormitory with four bunk beds. The two story brick addition added in 1850 contains two master bedrooms upstairs with king beds, and two bedrooms downstairs with queen beds, plus a parlor with a queen size sofa sleeper. A later addition to the home has a family room with another sofa sleeper, TV/DVD and full bath and laundry. Adjacent to the family room is a full kitchen with all the appliances and kitchenware needed for all the guests in the home. Another addition to the north side has another bedroom with queen size bed, and a large game room and full bathroom. Remodeling included new paint, carpeting and furnishings throughout this home plus the addition of two more bathrooms for convenience and central heat and air for comfort! All utensils, dishware, linens, and towels are provided. A washer & dryer are also provided for guest use. High speed internet is available as well.

Horse and Buggy Museum
The museum offers agricultural history exhibits and programs from the period 1820-1920 when horses were the man source of power for farming and transportation. With 6000 square feet of display area featuring eight interactive touchscreen kiosks with 80 video clips making Henderson county horse era come alive again. Over 50 equipment pieces are on exhibit.

The Hopper House in Nauvoo is just four blocks from the Nauvoo Temple! This cute cottage is the perfect “Grandma’s House” and has central heat and air conditioning. The living room has a queen size sofa sleeper, recliner and entertainment center with cable TV/DVD & VCR, and LDS videos and books. The two bedrooms each have queen size beds, there is a full size sofa sleeper in the dining room, and there are two cots and sleeping bags available for kids, if needed, sleeping 8-10 people, depending on age. The bathrooms have been recently remodeled with a vanity and shower/tub combination upstairs and a vanity and shower downstairs. Includes a large dining room with a table for six, and in 2006 a full kitchen remodel with gas range and oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and all utensils and dishware for twelve. LDS art and historical Nauvoo pictures throughout the house. All the linens and towels are provided, plus on the back porch is a washer and dryer for the convenience of guests. Great location, with a front porch and nice yard, close to groceries, shopping, restaurants and the temple!
