14th Annual Lincoln Douglas 5K and Fun Run
A series of short distances for children begins at 8 am: ages 8 and under – 100 yards; 9 to 10 – 200 yards; 11 to 12 – 400 yards. All finishers receive ribbons. The boy and girl winners of each age group will run a 100-yard dash following the 5K to determine “The Fasted Kid in Town!”. A One Mile Fun Run begins at 8:15 am. The course consists of one loop around the historic paved road inside Taylor Park. This is an untimed run and all finishers receive ribbons. The 5K begins at 8:35 am. The course consists of three loops around the paved road inside Taylor Park, a 5K (3.1 miles), wheel-measured certified course that is flat and fast designed to help runners achieve a personal best.

44th Annual Gurnee Days Celebration
Gurnee Days returns this week for 4 days of family fun. Activities include a bicycle rodeo, live entertainment, Farmers Market, Gurnee Idol, golf tournament, and amusement rides, a 10K race, baby contest, rib fest and eating contest, fireworks, a pancake breakfast, parade, Scoop the Loop Car Show, petting zoo, pony rides, a talent show, exhibitors, games, food booths and stage events. 47th Annual Threshing Show and Antique Show
The Stephenson County Antique Engine Club proudly presents this annual event, “The Freeport Show”. It offers over 300 antique steam and horse-powered engines and equipment, and gas engines. This year’s feature is John Deere tractors and equipment. There will be a huge parade daily at 1:00 pm, a large flea market, a large display building offering antique transportation displays, home antiques, crafts, demonstrations, and farm miniatures, Gasoline Alley featuring gas powered engines, sawmill, and blacksmith shop. Also ride the Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad antique steam train A Midwest Championship Antique Tractor Pull will be held on Saturday.

Alton Museum of History and Art
Winged monsters, explorers, riverboats and a gentle giant. The Alton Museum of History & Art shows the crossroads of American history in Alton. The museum is located in the historic Loomis Hall across from the Wadlow statue. Loomis Hall is the oldest building in the state of Illinois continuously utilized for education. One of the most popular rooms, the Wadlow Room, pays tribute to Alton's "Gentle Giant" and the World's Tallest Man. The Pioneer Room explores the history of Alton from the Lewis & Clark Expedition to the Civil War with exhibits on Elijah Lovejoy, the Lincoln-Douglas Debates and the "Alton Route" on the Underground Railroad.
