Located in a very historic area of Camargo, IL at the well-known Patterson Springs where the spring water fills three concrete pools on the grounds, within three acres of wooded nature land, next to the Embarrass River. The Gothic Revival house with a mansard roof was built in 1880. History abounds on the grounds from Native Americans drinking from the springs, to 1906-16 Chautauqua's, to a $50,000 amusement park from 1927-1942. At Alexander’s Steakhouse, each guest has the opportunity to select their own Steak from the locker and cook it their own special way over a live charcoal grill. Allerton Park was the private estate of Robert Henry Allerton, who donated it to the University of Illinois in 1946. It features 1,500 acres of woodlands, formal gardens and more than 100 sculptures. The park is open to the public for hiking, picnicking, cross-country skiing and leisurely garden strolls.

This 1885 train depot displays Illinois Central Railroad memorabilia, the largest Louis Klein collection of antique brooms and brushes in the United States, and interesting Arcola relics and keepsakes. Because Arcola is the birthplace of Raggedy Ann creator Johnny Gruelle, Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls and collectibles are also on display.
