Quarryman Challenge 10 Mile & 5K Race

58th Annual Des Plaines River Canoe and Kayak Marathon
This is the second oldest continual canoe race in the United States. The race is 18½ miles on the beautiful and historic Des Plaines River. There are numerous classes to accommodate people of all ages and levels, with a new 5.25 mile Minithon, starts at the Potawatomie Woods in Wheeling, option possible for non-competitors seeking a shorter course that ends at the customary Finish Line. Note that while, as in the past, Marathon paddlers may still take out at the halfway point at Rivershire Park in Lincolnshire, you must now arrange your own car shuttle to or from this site! Dirty Mudder Bike Race
Grab your mountain, cyclocross or even road bike and head out to Marilla Park to try our 62 mile ride full of rolling hills of gravel, dirt and grass and less than 7 miles of blacktop. For those not looking to tackle all 62 miles we have added a shorter 35 mile ride full of rolling hills of gravel and minimal blacktop. Mark your calendar for the last weekend of April. Naperville Park District Road Rally
Looking for adventure? Grab your neighbors and friends to create a team of four adults per vehicle. You will get a map and bag of clues; you'll need teamwork, logic and luck to stay on track. Some clues are helpful while others are designed to throw you off course. This exciting and somewhat physically challenging four-hour scavenger hunt on wheels will test your mind, body and teamwork, so put on your thinking caps and start your engines! At the completion of the rally, teams meet for an awards presentation and socialize at a pizza dinner. This fun-filled event is coordinated with the Bolingbrook, Lisle, Naperville and Woodridge Park Districts. Space is limited. Woodridge Park District Community Center, 2600 Center Drive, Woodridge. Starved Rock State Park Canyons Kayak Tour
If you have been to this wonderful state park you know how beautiful it is - consistently rated #1 in Illinois. This trip involves kayaking for approx. 3 hours -back into LaSalle canyon and Hennepin canyon. The views from the water are amazing! 11:00am - 2:00pm.
Lake Zurich Area Triathlon
The area's premier USAT sanctioned Olympic distance triathlon continues its' tradition in Lake Zurich with the Lake Zurich Area Triathlon at Paulus Park. In addition to the one loop swim, the event will feature an updated bike and run course that will primarily be flat and fast. Register now through 11:59pm July 10. There will be No race day registration.
Big Earl's Extreme Race
Big Earl's Extreme Race is a 3+ mile obstacle run in Effingham. There are seven different wave times with over 15 obstacles and all participants will recieve a free hot dog and beer or soda.
Frankfort Half Marathon
The Frankfort Half Marathon will begin and end in the beautiful historic district of downtown Frankfort. The race will commence right outside the door of Running Excels on the Old Plank Trail and run westward. After 2.7 miles of running on the scenic, tree-lined Old Plank Trail, the racers will turn off into the Hickory Creek Forest Preserve. The rolling hills of the forest preserve will provide a picturesque tour for the runners as they reach the halfway and turn-around point in the race. The runners will then proceed back through the forest preserve and to the Old Plank Trail for their final journey towards the finish line and the post-race party on the Breidert Green. 7AM.
Triathlon-Stovepipe Sprint and Railsplitter Triathlon
The Stovepipe Sprint and Railsplitter Triathlon consists of a swim in a private lake, a bike ride on rolling country roads and a run through Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site and down the main-street of an 1800's pioneer village. For registration and more information
Designed for experienced triathletes and beginning participants. Triathlon includes a 300 meter swim, 6 mile bike course (helmets required), and a 3 mile run. This event is good for getting in shape for more ambitious triathlons. There are no age group awards, everyone who finishes is a winner. Deerfield Park District's Annual Deer Dash
Deer Dash begins at Jaycee Park and features a 5K race, 10K race, and 1-mile fun run designed for both beginning and experienced runners. Families may come out together and enjoy the event. Youth (8 years and up), teen and adult participants may participate in any of the running venues. Fees (which include a T-shirt, race packet and refreshments) are as follows, on or before May 2: $20/Residents; $25/Non-Residents; after May 2: $25/Residents; $30/Non-Residents.

Mill Creek Mayhem
Toughest trail race in the Midwest. Extreme 12K trail run and 1 mile mini mayhem. The footing (What footing?) is hilly, muddy (several water crossings), and loose in places. The trail is not maintained (non-existent) in some places. Expect to be scratched and bruised. Located in the beautiful Mill Creek Park in Marshall Illinois.
Nearly Sane Trail Half Marathon
The Nearly Sane Trail Half Marathon will be 13.1 miles through the trails of Half Day Forest Preserve (permit pending), onto the trails of the Des Plaines River trail and back to the festival area where you can enjoy your well-deserved beer and hot dog! The start/finish area will be located at Shelter C of Half Day Forest Preserve in Lake County and take place on the beautiful trails of Lake County, which are some of the best that Chicagoland has to offer!
