Historic Marbold Farmstead
The Historic Marbold Farmstead is a treasured jewel in Menard County, Illinois. This was the central hub of the Marbold family farmland holdings, which consisted of over 4,000 acres. It was virtually self-sufficient, with several barns, dairy, chicken house, smoke house, ice house, boiler house and pump house. The original house, called Elmwood, was build in 1850 by John Marbold, a German immigrant and prominent Greenview farmer and businessman. Restoration efforts are underway. Located at 21722 State Hwy. 29 near Greenview.
Memorial's Festival of Trees

Annual Abe’s River Race
Abe’s Canoe Race is a celebration on the beautiful Sangamon River that led a young Abraham Lincoln to settle in New Salem, and of course the rest is history. This event features a 19 mile canoe/kayak race for the serious competitors along with a gentle float for adults and families on a shorter course. This is a great way to see the river that is largely undeveloped and unchanged. Following the race, you’ll want to take in the fun at Riverbank Lodge for the Awards Ceremony, fresh grilled food, live music and drinks. In 1842 the Broadwell family hosted a 4th of July celebration at Clayville with artillery, bands, speeches, food and refreshments. Over 300 people came from Springfield alone! Come and help recreate this historic event. Mr. Lincoln himself may be there!

2nd Annual Marbold Farmstead Antique Show
Located at Historic Marbold Farmstead just south of Greenview on 21722 State Hwy. 29 (20 miles north of Springfield). Featuring country primitives, furniture, textiles, pottery, Americana for sale. Dealers from several states, food available. 9am-3pm. The Marbold Farmstead was the central hub of the Marbold family farmland holdings which consisted of over 4,000 acres and was virtually self-sufficient. The original house was built in 1850 and was one of the most notable homes in central Illinois. It is being restored and is home to an annual Antique Show featuring a wide range of vendors. Enjoy a beautiful natural setting and find the perfect items. Take in food, drinks, activities and demonstrations. Country Primitives, Furniture, Pottery, Textiles and Americana from dealers from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Central Illinois. Period Craftsmen will demonstrate rag rug weaving, broom making, quilting, spinning, hat making, soap making. Proceeds to benefit restoration of the Marbold Farmstead.
