Ranked one of the Chicago District Golf Association's top-25 toughest public courses from the championship tees, Oak Grove plays from 7,000-plus yards to just over 5,200.
Redtail is an 18 hole course that features 6,820 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.8 and it has a slope rating of 130 on Bent grass. Designed by Roger B. Packard, the Redtail golf course opened in 1991.

Nine new holes reclaim an old stone quarry, and take maximum advantage of the unique and dramatic landforms that were left behind, including a twelve acre quarry lake. Four holes hug the top of the bluff thirty to forty feet above the water providing golfers with incredible views and numerous shot options on each hole.

More than 20 village buildings will be specially decorated for Halloween by local community groups, and families can trick or treat in each building to receive candy! There will also be additional children’s activities such as crafts, games and dancing! Starting in mid-afternoon, families can enter the enchanted woods and be transported into the famous adventure of The Jungle Book! Travel along the illuminated path to various scenes from the story and meet famous characters such as Baloo the bear, King Louis, Mowgli, and Shere Khan! Families are encouraged to dress in costume. The National Short Track Championships (NSTC) return to Rockford Speedway for the 51st edition of "One Great Racing Weekend." Super Late Models are again the main attraction of NSTC weekend, competing both Saturday and Sunday, with a grand prize which could reach $10,000 at the end of the 200 lap main event on Sunday afternoon awaiting the winner! TEN total divisions are set to do battle during NSTC this year, including the Big 8 Late Model Series, Mid American Stock Car Series, Great Northern Sportsman Series, Midwest Dash Series, Illini Racing Series Midgets, Roadrunners, the Hornet/Bandit Challenge, Vintage Racers of Illinois and Super Cups.
What began as a few dozen apple trees for family and friends in 1975, evolved to what it is today - Lang’s Orchard. we wanted an “old-fashioned orchard.” We recalled coming out of the city and going out to the country to just pick apples! October 25, 1959 then Senator John F. Kennedy gave a speech here at the Egyptian Theatre in front of a packed house. A recording of this very speech has been found and will be played for the first time on the anniversary of his speech 57 years ago. Following the playing of his speech historian, Jim Gibbons, will present the life of our 35th President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Jim Gibbons, a Marengo, IL resident and historian, has made a name for himself teaching the importance of history. Using his passion for and strong knowledge of history, Jim offers riveting presentations on the historical events and figures.

A group of Rockford natives made the decision to share their passion for fine beer and food with others in the form of a brewpub. Their home is the historic Prairie Street Brewhouse, an important part of Rockford’s history and currently coming back to life as a mixed-use development. Home to the original Rockford Brewing Company, this building was one of the first breweries in the nation, pumping out over 75,000 barrels a year and its peak. Their shiny new 15-barrel brewery is the backdrop to Rockford’s newest destination for handcrafted beer and food. They are proud and excited to bring this wonderful piece of Rockford history back to life and look forward to exceeding expectations.
Yesterday and Today is the high energy and entertaining interactive Beatles experience featuring brothers Billy, Ryan and Matthew McGuigan with a backing band. No wigs, no accents – the brothers do not try to impersonate the fab four, but rather honor the music and memories that people have attached to the legendary songs. The performers take audience requests before the show and at intermission, which drive the show; no two shows are ever the same. Audience members will be singing along and dancing in the aisles!
Steeped in tradition, the YMCA's Rowing Crew plays host to the Head of the Rock Regatta every October. This decades-old race draws more than 2,000 rowers from across the country and more than 5,000 spectators to the banks of the Rock River. The Head of the Rock Regatta is a rowing race of 5,000 meters (3.2 miles) on the Rock River, beginning at Martin Park and finishing at the YMCA. It is a sanctioned event of the United States Rowing Association, requiring the observance of USRowing race protocol. Suggested viewing spots are Martin Park, The Symbol, Sinnissippi Gardens, and anywhere along the east bank of the river between Riverside Boulevard and Whitman Street. Bring picnics, chairs and blankets and get a spot early to enjoy a relaxing event.
