Lincoln’s Trial & Tribulations

Savor a delicious period meal. Hear and watch the story of the 1847 Matson Slave Trial unfold. It is one of the top ten trials in Lincoln’s career and one of the top five in Coles County. World's Largest Horseshoe
Weighing in at 1,144 lbs and measuring 5'8" by 4' 5/8", this horseshoe is sure to bring good luck to all that visit. The Martinsville Horseshoe gained its Guinness Book of World Record status in 2013. The horseshoe stands at the entrance to the Martinsville fairgrounds.
Open Water Swim at Lincoln Trail State Park
A rectangular 1.2 and 2.4 mile loop course marked by buoys, lifeguards, rowboats, kayaks and other safety officials. Finish with a brief run of beach sand through finish chute.
Mill Creek Mayhem
Toughest trail race in the Midwest. Extreme 12K trail run and 1 mile mini mayhem. The footing (What footing?) is hilly, muddy (several water crossings), and loose in places. The trail is not maintained (non-existent) in some places. Expect to be scratched and bruised. Located in the beautiful Mill Creek Park in Marshall Illinois.
Mill Creek Triathlon
An intense 1500 meter swim, 40K bike ride, 6 mile run along with a 400 meter swim, 10 mile bike ride and 3 mile run. Location is the beautiful Mill Creek Park located in Marshall Illinois.
Edgar County Fair
Held at Edgar Co. Fairgrounds in Paris, this fair features the queen pageant, livestock shows including llamas, truck & tractor pull, demo derby, harness racing, horse show, dog obedience show, talent show and a carnival.
Crawford County Fair

Annual Bluegrass Jam
It’s bluegrass time again at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site, with both fans and performers gathering on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Musicians from Illinois and Indiana will converge at the site for a day of jamming with informal groups playing along the creek throughout the day. The site’s volunteers will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs and more with proceeds benefit the historical and interpretive programs at the site. Anyone with a love of this unique style of music is welcome to join one of the many the groups playing in the park.

Torchlight Halloween Hike, Pumpkin Carving and Wiener Roast
Enjoy Lincoln Log Cabin in the dark! We will start at the Visitor Center for a bonfire and wiener roast. Bring out your best carved pumpkin by 4:30 pm and visitors will judge the best carvings and prizes will be awarded. You will also want to hike the paths between our historic farms by torchlight to hear storytellers in the Lincoln Cabin and Sargent House there to entertain guests with seasonal stories. To benefit the educational and interpretation programs of Lincoln Log Cabin, the Foundation will be selling hot dogs and s’mores for you to roast over an open fire.

It is a “must stop” location for travelers with its guest book logging visitors from all 50 states and around the world. In April 2014, a new record was set where 3,251 burgers were served during a major motorcycle rally, the Moonshine Lunch Run.

World's Largest Knitting Needles and Crochet Hook
The World's Largest Knitting Needles and Crochet Hook are located inside The Yarn Studio in downtown Casey, Illinois. In order to make it in to the Guinness Book of World Records shop owner, Jeanette Huisinga, had to knit and crochet a 10X10 square with the largest tools. Knitting Needles are 13ft .75in and 25 pounds each. Crochet Hook measures at 6ft. 1.5in and weight is 9lbs.
