Steam Shovel Coffee
Steam Shovel Coffee is a local business that was launched in 2011 and opened doors in 2012 out of Anna, Illinois. "Fresh roasted coffee beans to you." Randy Miller, owner and creator of the local business, was a painter by trade before getting into coffee. He was intrigued by coffee beans and how different regions and types of beans affect the outcome of the coffee. Steam Shovel Coffee uses fair trade Arabica coffee beans that are roasted in a hot air roaster with temperatures reaching 465 degrees. Miller's goal is to become a regional roaster in Southern Illinois. He wants Steam Shovel Coffee to be a good, smooth cup of coffee.
Dozens of hummingbirds should be present to "wow" the observers. After the birds are captured and banded (through special permits), visitors may wish to adopt one (for a $5 donation to the Lincoln Land Association of Bird Banders, sponsor of the event) and have the privilege of releasing it back to the wild. Those who adopt birds will receive an attractive signed certificate and will be notified if their bird is ever recaptured. Held at the Trail of Tears State Forest pavilion, Jonesboro, 9:00 am to noon. There is no charge for the event.
