Westlake Village Golf Course is a prime public golf course in the Rockford Illinois area. The course is situated on 190 rolling acres just west of Rockford in the Westlake Village Subdivision. Westlake Village Golf Course offers some of the areas best golf with challenging par 3's and demanding par 5's.
Established in 1915, Timber Creek is not the ‘run of the mill’ golf course. With gentle rolling fairways, it was designed to give the golfer ample room off the tee while giving the player a challenge of a lie that may be slightly uphill or downhill. The closer you get to our bent grass greens, you will find sand traps placed by the architect in places that add to the overall character of the course. With new sand, you will find it as accommodating as one could. Our greens at Timber Creek were designed for game improvement and the scratch golfer alike.
The original nine holes date back to 1913, offering beautiful views of the Rock River. The design is a 2700 yard, par 34 with lots of trees and small greens. The back nine, built in the late 60’s, is a 3200 yard track par 36, with large greens and sand traps. Adding to the challenge is the Holland creek running through it, coming into play on seven of the nine holes.

Their home is the historic Prairie Street Brewhouse, an important part of Rockford’s history and currently coming back to life as a mixed-use development. Home to the original Rockford Brewing Company, this building was one of the first breweries in the nation, pumping out over 75,000 barrels a year and its peak. Their shiny new 15-barrel brewery is the backdrop to Rockford’s newest destination for handcrafted beer and food. They are proud and excited to bring this wonderful piece of Rockford history back to life and look forward to exceeding expectations.

It has become far too easy in our consumer culture for us to forget that coffee is a crop. This means that coffee is something that is grown by farmers; it requires workers to harvest, to mill, to dry, and a list of other tasks that happen well before those beans ever arrive to us. We believe if handled properly at origin, coffee has the potential to be respected and treated like a fine wine. We aim to bring in coffees that have been grown properly and responsibly. Quality sourcing is just the first step in our journey toward the best possible flavor in the resulting cups of coffee we make.

Freeport Art Museum, 121 N. Harlem Avenue, Freeport. Tuesday thru Friday: 10 am to 5 pm; Saturday: Noon to 5 pm. This exhibition is an installation, print and multi-media exhibition of work by Jonathan McFadden and David Wischer that presents a reaction to news and social media cycles by drawing attention to the fractured and often-sensationalized events and culture. Works are appropriated from multiple media outlets and social media sites, emphasizing the fractured narrative that news cycles create by pushing aside recent events for the most current story, creating a culture that blurs events and leaves the viewer entertained but unable to recall details. McFadden incorporates recognizable forms so that the viewer feels a sense of remembrance toward, but may not link to the original meaning. Thus the work created in reaction to these events begins to take on its own narrative about global society and how we digest information. Opening Reception: August 19, 5 pm to 7 pm. Free, but donations appreciated. (815-235-9755)
