Ride Like An Egyptian
Join us for a fun and enjoyable bike ride through DeKalb and Kane Counties and support the historic Egyptian Theatre on Satruday, August 22nd. Since the ride starts and ends at the Egyptian Theatre, you will have the opportunity to explore this historic landmark. This bike ride offers four mix-n-match 25-mile loops. All participants will be provided with route maps and all routes will be marked with signs. There will be great SAG support on all loops and a well-stocked central rest stop. Bike at your own speed, this is not a race. All ages are welcome, however, those under the age of 16 must ride with a participating parent or guardian. There will be an end-of-ride meal provided for registered riders. Meal will feature soup, sandwiches, and refreshments.
Music in the Park
The City of Ottawa proudly presents their “Music in the Park” Series every Saturday evening at the historic Washington Square Park on Jackson Street. Fly 4 Life Angels Camp
This is a great 4 day skydiving camp. Participants will be organized by skill level in groups of 6. Coaches will rotate every day bringing in different flying styles and ways to explain the techniques in practice. 6 jumps per day (more if there is still time). About 40 minutes between jumps. The popular 1891 Victorian playhouse on the grounds of the Ellwood House Museum will be open for play during the second annual ‘Lunch at the Little House’ event. Children of all ages are invited to bring lunch and enjoy an afternoon at the Ellwood House. Historic toys will be available to interact with an learn about and the 1891 Victorian playhouse will be open to visitors as well. This event is free, but advanced registration is requested.

Vertical World Record Try-Out Camp
You gotta get through the tryout camp at Skydive Chicago June 19-22, before moving on for the world record! The Record Camp will take place during Summerfest July 25 – Aug. 2, 2015. The camp will start July 28th and will consist of 25 jumps. July 27th will be the official warm up day.
17th Annual Biking with Beanzie
Biking with Beanzie is a recreational ride presented by Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club of DeKalb and sponsored by Kishwaukee Community Hospital.The ride route consists of primarily flat rural roads with some rolling terrain with estimated ride options of 23, 43, 63, 80, or 101 miles. All roads are well-paved, lightly traveled and posted with signs containing ride information and bits of Beanzie humor. This year also includes 3-mile, 5-mile, & 8-mile community bicycle pathway route options.
10th Annual "Let's Dance" Big Band Weekend
The event provides a venue and 'live' dance bands ( 10 - 17 pieces) for fans and social ballroom dancers to enjoy. Catered food - healthy, delicious, recommended by dancers. LaSalle County Historical Society Heritage Center
The LaSalle County Historical Society’s museum lies on the north side of the historic Illinois and Michigan Canal, itself a historical landmark. The museum building, erected in 1848 during the presidency of Zachary Taylor, is a beautifully restored sandstone building that was originally a granary and warehouse. The two-story building has walls of sandstone blocks between 18 and 32 inches thick, quarried in Utica, and secured with hydraulic cement of the same kind used in the construction of the I&M Canal. James Clark, the man who commissioned the building, came to Utica in 1833, where he became a land squatter. In 1842 he became a contractor on the I&M Canal and in 1845 he bought the local cement mill. He made it a huge commercial success by selling the cement to the canal contractors and the general public. The cement was used in many parts of the canal.

Presented by Holly Hughes, master gardener and newspaper columnist, topics will include how to identify herbs, when and where to plant them, and the uses of herbs in cooking and baking.
