Home for the Holidays

The nostalgic street lights downtown take on a festive glow with wreaths and lights adorning the lampposts. The celebration features a house walk, a night time lighted parade, carriage rides, trolley rides, a children's winter carnival, the festival of trees, live reindeer and of course, Santa!.

Neil Diamond 101
Denny Diamond is not a Neil Diamond impersonator but rather a stylist or tribute artist. He is also a talented, original songwriter. Denny, along with his two sons, Lukas and Spenser, will entertain you with Neil Diamond’s biggest hits, some of Denny’s original songs, as well as hits made famous by Johnny Cash, Roger Miller and Tom Jones. 25th Pumpkin Pie Bicycle Ride
Ride between 28 and 103 miles along roads and rolling hills. Take a family bike ride on the I&M Canal! After biking, celebrate with pumpkin pie and goodies served at the YMCA. Preregister online by 9/18 at midnight for $23, or register after 9/18 for $30. Start biking as early as 7:00am!

Join us for an afternoon of music at Cattails located at the Starved Rock Marketplace at the intersection of US Route 6 and Illinois Route 178. Enjoy a wine tasting along with the music or purchase a glass of wine or beer as you enjoy local musicians in the lovely setting of the patio at Cattails. This event is free and will take place rain or shine.
Starved Rock Lodge's Outdoor Woman Workshop
Trade your to-do list for a weekend for yourself and friends. Ever wanted to pull back a bow and shoot an arrow? How about learning the proper way to saddle a horse? This is a day filled with fun where women from all over will gather and learn nontraditional skills in a relaxed environment. Starved Rock Lodge and the National Wild Turkey Federation bring classes to this workshop, such as shooting. 5 workshops, 2 meals and snacks are included in both days events. The only class that will be offered on Friday is shooting and Friday is not sold alone. Call to reserve a spot! Participation in only Saturday's workshops is $65 and both days is $92 per person.
Columbus Day Weekend Fall Colors Kayak Tour & Beach Campout
Camp out on the wooded, sandy beaches of the Illinois River. A potluck dinner on the beach, will be followed by a movie, via a pico projector, under the stars. There will be campfires on the beach to enjoy! This event is perfect for the first time camper! A full hot breakfast will be served in the morning before setting out on a guided kayak tour for approx. 2 hours. This trip will explore either the Mazon River or the Illinois River and the wildlife along the way!

Christmas Trolley Lights Tour
Relax before the holidays on this illuminated tour of the LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby and Utica area, just days before Christmas. Let the staff plan the route and do the driving so you can enjoy light displays in our fully enclosed trolley. The trolleys are heated but you may want to bring along an extra blanket. Each tour will have a guide to get into the holiday spirit through some Christmas carols and songs. Tours run from 6-8pm and reservations are a must.

Fox Valley American Indian Artifact Show

Lyon Farm Halloween Festival
Old-fashioned games, trick-or-treating, a costume parade, hayrides and prizes will be available at the two Halloween parties at the Lyon Farm. Families with children of all ages are welcome. Takes place on Sunday, October 19 and Sunday, October 26.

Storytelling at Fox Ridge
Many different storytelling events are held under the serenity of the pines at Fox Ridge, our outdoor education & entertainment venue, across from the main doors of the Lodge. Campfire Stories are every Saturday night from July through October. Join us and some of the Illinois Valley’s most engaging storytellers as they share stories, legends, facts and fiction around the fire. Audience participation is welcome so be ready for some fun! Storytime starts at 7:00 pm. Come and sit around the campfire and share your own stories as well as listen to stories told by professionals. Don't worry about the snacks. Popcorn and supplies for s'mores will be sold at the Fox's Den.
