Historic Marbold Second Sunday Summer Series
The Farmstead will offer tours of the house and grounds, history of the Marbold family and light refreshments. The Stier Trolley will be available to take visitors through Greenview where a guide will provide details of the Marbold's influence and impact on the community.Exclusive for August: "One Grand Old Lady" Readers' Theatre.

Special programs in the farmstead kitchen: 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Enjoy a lesson in history, tours of the house and grounds along with period craftsmen on site. This Sunday features Dick Lyons, a native of Montgomery County and fourth-generation farmer growing corn, soybeans, and wheat with cover crops, will share his knowledge of farming practices dating from the 1800's to today's technological world of modern agriculture. A special added feature at the June Second Sunday will be Heart Strings, a dulcimer group from Petersburg.

July 12 features Eastern Illinois University Associate Professor, Dr. Chris Laingen, will share data from the Census of Agriculture from 1925 to 2012 and will illustrate the changes in crops, livestock, and land use that have occurred in the Corn Belt. A special added feature at the July Second Sunday will be the Menard County Vintage Ag Association on site with some of their collection of farm implements.

Triathlon-Stovepipe Sprint and Railsplitter Triathlon

Morgan Horse Demonstration
Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club (MVMHC) will present historic demonstrations of the Morgan Horse, "America's first breed," Also included will be demonstrations of modern uses of the Morgan horse, including trail riding, dressage, driving and society horse shows. There will be ongoing horse activities to observe between sessions, a large variety of free educational and promotional materials for adults and kids, and an opportunity to visit with MVMHC members and get up close to the beautiful Morgan horses.
Annual Chicken Wing Contest
The Annual Chicken Wing Cook off at Hill Prairie Winery is a large festival that features competing chefs preparing their favorite (and often unique) wing flavors. Visitors can purchase wings and vote for their favorites. The music of Dueling Pianos is back by popular demand, so enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon in the rolling hills of beautiful Hill Prairie Winery in Oakford, Illinois. And be sure to try some terrific, and award winning, wines from grapes grown on site.
Menard County Fair
Running Tuesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 20, the Menard County Fair offers something for everyone. West of Wise Winery
Recently opened in February 2015, the West of Wise Winery is a small batch winery located south of Petersburg, Illinois featuring wines from Illinois grown grapes and other select vineyards. Many of the grapes are from the family vineyard - Ratio Vineyard in Kilbourne, Illinois.

Annual Marbold Farmstead Antique Show
Located at Historic Marbold Farmstead just south of Greenview on 21722 State Hwy. 29 (20 miles north of Springfield). Featuring country primitives, furniture, textiles, pottery, Americana for sale. Dealers from several states and food available. 9am-3pm. The Marbold Farmstead was the central hub of the Marbold family farmland holdings which consisted of over 4,000 acres and was virtually self-sufficient. The original house was built in 1850 and was one of the most notable homes in central Illinois. It is being restored and is home to an annual Antique Show featuring a wide range of vendors. Enjoy a beautiful natural setting and find the perfect items. Take in food, drinks, activities and demonstrations. Country Primitives, Furniture, Pottery, Textiles and Americana from dealers from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Central Illinois. Period Craftsmen will demonstrate rag rug weaving, broom making, quilting, spinning, hat making, soap making. Proceeds to benefit restoration of the Marbold Farmstead.
Abe’s Trail Trek
Trail run consists of a 5k, 10k and 15k run on trails through Lincoln's New Salem. In addition to the terrain of the 5k course, the 10k and 15k courses will take you past an 1800's reproduction flatboat, grist mill, up and down more than 150 steps, past a pioneer cemetery and on to the Finish Line at the museum.
Parkview Golf Course
A nice course open year round with some hills to add that extra challenge! This is a course you can walk and enjoy playing anytime. Parkview is an 18 hole course totaling 6002 yards and open seven days a week with twilight fees available. Located just east of Parkway Drive.
