Kankakee River Fishing Derby
Come out for the Annual Kankakee River Valley Fishing Derby! The Kankakee is a clean river that is a popular destination for recreational canoeing and fishing for warm-water species such as smallmouth bass, channel catfish, walleye and northern pike. Our fishing derby is a ten-day event providing exciting fun for the whole family and cash prizes are awarded for tagged fish.
Crappie USA Super Tournament
Crappie USA will hold one of its fishing Super Tournaments on Lake of Egypt in Marion, IL. This will be a guaranteed payout of $10,000 and prizes to winners. The tournament starts at 6:30am and will run until 3pm with a weigh-in at 4pm.

This year, the tournament at Hickory Point Golf Club will showcase a three day, 54 – hole stroke play professional tournament featuring a purse of $130,000.
2016 STIHL Timbersports U.S. Pro and Collegiate Championships
The STIHL Timbersports® Series assembles the world's top lumberjack athletes to compete in the Original Extreme Sport. The Series is seen by millions viewers annually in over 62 countries around the world on networks like ABC, Eurosport, and ESPN, where it is now recognized as the second longest running show behind only 'SportsCenter'. Athletes compete in a variety of disciplines based on traditional logging skills to determine the best all-around lumberjack. Disciplines include Hot Saw, Single Buck, Springboard Chop, Standing Block Chop, Stock Saw and Underhand Chop. Schedule: July 15 1PM-5PM, 7PM-10PM; July 16 5PM-9PM.
Try your hand at the Litchfield TriathLou at Lake Lou Yaeger. Swimming in Lake Lou Yaeger is the best open water swim you will have in the Midwest. There really is no comparison to this large beach with pristine flat racing water. The bike course is flat and fast with some great curves to keep you entertained the whole ride. Both the 5k and 10k runs see very honest mile paces with plenty of flats, and a couple hills throughout. Sprint and Olympic distances are available.
Highland Park Golf Course
Built in the 1930's, this golf course offers old, mature trees lining each fairway on the 5,539 yard course. In addition to the narrow fairways, small greens make for a challenging round. USGA Course Ratings and Slope Ratings are 66.9 and 111, respectively. A hilly terrain with a beautiful creek meandering through the course make this a very scenic golf course. Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival
The dragons are coming to Blue Island for the inaugural Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival. Watch these long 20-seat boats with a dragon decoration on the outside mimic the old war canoes of ancient Asian past. This ancient Chinese sport has become one of the fierce competitions throughout the world, and is growing rapidly in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States. 9AM-3PM.
Ironwood Golf Course
The Ironwood Golf Course is the Town's full service golf facility with 18 holes, 7,100 yards and a par 72 championship layout playing from 5400-7100 yards with four sets of tees. The course offers cart rental, a driving range and has a pro shop with club rental. Ironwood was designed by highly regarded golf course designer Roger Packard and meanders through the Ironwood residential subdivision. Opened in 1990, Ironwood Golf Course has hosted numerous high school regional, sectional and conference tournaments, collegiate invitational tournaments, local charity events and site of C.D.G.A and U.S.G.A. qualifiers.
UL International Crown at the Merit Club
The UL International is coming to the Merit Club in Lake County. The golfing competition will take place over four days with 32 players from 8 different countries. It will feature three days of four-ball competition and one day of singles matches on Sunday. Five of the eight countries will advance to the Sunday singles matches based on the outcome of the four-ball matches contested Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are on sale now.

8th Annual Miles for Meso 5K Race
The annual Alton Miles for Meso 5K Race & 2K Fun Run/Walk will take place in downtown Alton. The race begins at the Simmons Hanly Conroy Law Firm building, across from Marquette High School, and winds through the historic, brick streets of downtown Alton. Cash prizes awarded. World Rolle Bolle Tournament
Rolle Bolle developed by Belgians, is a game of skill similar to horseshoes. This event draws over 50 three-man teams. Tournaments begin Friday for teams, Saturday for State and Sunday is the World Rolle Bolle Event held at Howe’s Park in Annawan. Come see how it’s done! Activities begin at 10 am.

The River Bassin Trail is an affordable tournament trail for river bass fishing anglers of all types. We just want people to see and respect the beauty of our nation’s rivers so that they’re taken care of and given the attention they deserve for future generations to also enjoy. 2017 NCAA National Golf Championships at Rich Harvest Farms
The 2017 NCAA National Golf Championships will be held at Rich Harvest Farms and hosted for the first time by Northern Illinois University, with play taking place from May 19-24 (women) and May 26-31 (men). Sugar Grove will be only the third Illinois city to host the Division I Golf Championships. Cook County’s Olympia Fields Country Club hosted the men’s championship in 1943, while Conway Farms Golf Club outside of Chicago played host to the men’s as well in 1997.
