2015 Fall Cruise-In & Concert
Cruise down to Macomb, Illinois on September 13 to enjoy a day of raffles, prizes, food vendors, and live entertainment by Tanya Tucker. This event is hosted by Texas Tranzplants to help local veterans and their children. Tickets for this event are $25. Doors open at 12:30 pm, and the concert ends at 5 pm. The weekend of the Gazebo Art Festival, Macomb’s Western Illinois University hosts the annual Al Sears Jazz Festival, sharing Chandler Park and providing a vibrant atmosphere for music and art lovers alike. The Macomb Public Library also hosts one of its annual book sales and food vendors are available. Art Media Categories include 2-D such as drawing, photography/digital photography, digital art, printmaking, mixed media, painting, fiber arts and 3-D such as clay, jewelry, sculpture, wood and glass.

The Barnett Bungalow, is a quaint, early 1900's home just over two blocks from the temple! With central heat and air conditioning it features a living room with queen-size sofa sleeper, love seat, TV with VCR and DVD, book shelf with early LDS and Nauvoo history, including LDS videos, and Nauvoo framed art. The completely remodeled kitchen has all new cabinets, counter-top and appliances, including full size refrigerator, range and oven, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, toaster, and all the utensils and dishware for twelve. There is comfortable wall-to-wall carpeting in the living room and two bedrooms on the main floor, each with queen size beds. The dining room has a hardwood floor, with oak dining table and chairs for six, in addition to the drop-leaf kitchen table which seats four. The large main floor bathroom has a shower/tub combination, and vanity, in addition to the laundry behind bi-fold doors. Up the carpeted stairs to the children’s quarters, an attic great room with cable TV, full-size futon and four twin beds, plus a new bathroom with a shower/tub combination. Two cots and sleeping bags available for kids, plus a port-a-crib, if needed. Sleeps 12-14 people depending on age. All linens and towels are provided, plus a washer and dryer are available for guests use. Close to everything in town...walk to groceries, restaurants, shopping and the temple.

The winery was established in 1857 by Emile and Annette Baxter. Today, Baxter’s Vineyards continues within the same family with co-owners, Kelly and Brenda Logan. Kelly is a part of the fifth generation of Baxter’s to grow grapes and apples and make wine in historic Nauvoo.

Camp Nauvoo is a great place to stay for your visit to Historic Nauvoo. They are situated on the Mississippi River bluff on 30 acres of land - plenty of space. They are located just 1.2 miles from the historic area of Nauvoo and 1.4 miles from the LDS Temple. Camp Nauvoo is ideal for church youth gatherings, family reunions, weddings, RVing, retreats, tenting and many other activities.
The Carthage Jail was the site of the martyrdom of Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum on June 27, 1844. Joseph and Hyrum with two companions were imprisoned here. A mob broke into the jail and killed them and injured severly one of their companions. Today the restored jail and visitors center and memorial gardens are open to visitors daily.

Built of native yellow limestome from 1839-1841, this was the site where Mormon leader, Joseph Smith Jr. and his brother were killed by an angry mob on June 27, 1844, resulting in the Mormons' famous trek west that led to the founding of Salt Lake City, UT.

The Charles Hales Home is a historic Mormon pioneer home with modern amenities in the Hyrum Kimball Village, perfect for your family vacation to Nauvoo. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a king bed, and a large king bedroom across the hall. Also on the first floor is a full kitchen, dining room, great room/family room and a full bathroom. This floor has a vaulted ceiling above the great room and dining room area with a grand staircase to the second floor loft (with queen size sofa sleeper). The back of the home is open and airy with two story windows that bathe the home with light. The second floor has two king bedrooms and one queen bedroom. In the hall are two full bathrooms with sinks in a vanity. The basement has a full laundry room with washer and dryer.
