Elkhart Bird Watcher Walks
On Saturday, April 26, 2014 the Elkhart Historical Society will host Bird Watcher Walks on Elkhart Hill. Watchers will enjoy looking for migratory birds, this is a perfect opportunity for a spring family event. The outing will be on foot. Walks will last approximately 90 minutes. The walks will be offered at 6 am and 4 pm. Registration is limited to 15 people per walk.
Elkhart Wildflower Nature Walks
Enjoy the spectacular wildflowers on Elkhart Hill. Everyone will receive a wildflower "bingo" card to learn the names of the flowers and keep track of the beautiful flowers they will see. Walks are limited to 15 people and will last approximately 90 minutes. The outing will be on foot. The walks are scheduled for 10 am and 2 pm on the following Saturdays in April: 4/12/14, 4/19/14, and 4/26/14
Historic Marbold Farmstead
The Historic Marbold Farmstead is a treasured jewel in Menard County, Illinois. This was the central hub of the Marbold family farmland holdings, which consisted of over 4,000 acres. It was virtually self-sufficient, with several barns, dairy, chicken house, smoke house, ice house, boiler house and pump house. The original house, called Elmwood, was build in 1850 by John Marbold, a German immigrant and prominent Greenview farmer and businessman. Restoration efforts are underway. Located at 21722 State Hwy. 29 near Greenview.

Barn quilts of DeWitt County is a project designed to celebrate Clinton and DeWitt County’s rich agricultural history, showcase our rural areas, promote agritourism, the arts, and create a sense of community pride. Throughout the county, vibrant, hand-painted 8’X8’ quilt blocks on ‘wooden canvases’ adorn numerous barns, making a drive through the countryside all the more enjoyable.
2nd Annual Marbold Farmstead Antique Show
Located at Historic Marbold Farmstead just south of Greenview on 21722 State Hwy. 29 (20 miles north of Springfield). Featuring country primitives, furniture, textiles, pottery, Americana for sale. Dealers from several states, food available. 9am-3pm. The Marbold Farmstead was the central hub of the Marbold family farmland holdings which consisted of over 4,000 acres and was virtually self-sufficient. The original house was built in 1850 and was one of the most notable homes in central Illinois. It is being restored and is home to an annual Antique Show featuring a wide range of vendors. Enjoy a beautiful natural setting and find the perfect items. Take in food, drinks, activities and demonstrations. Country Primitives, Furniture, Pottery, Textiles and Americana from dealers from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Central Illinois. Period Craftsmen will demonstrate rag rug weaving, broom making, quilting, spinning, hat making, soap making. Proceeds to benefit restoration of the Marbold Farmstead.
