Moweaqua Golf Course is located one mile west of Moweaqua, Illinois. It is a public 18 hole golf course for golfers of all abilities, as it offers four sets of tees and a maximum yardage of 6,300 yards. The course is a popular site for golf outings and features a driving range, pro shop, and snack bar. Moweaqua golf course opened in 1993. The course started out as a simple, but challenging, nine hole course. In 2000 the the Village of Moweaqua purchased land that bordered the course to the west and in 2003 the back nine was built. Golfers now have an 18 hole layout.
Lakeshore Golf Course is truly in a class of its own. Nestled along the west bank of Lake Taylorville, this course features beautiful rolling terrain, tree lined fairways, lake views, and immaculate greens. Couple these features with 4 sets of tees and you get a course that is challenging for the established golfer, yet a learning experience for the beginning golfer. In addition to this fantastic course, Lakeshore features a fully stocked pro shop for all your golfing needs, a driving range with 12 sets of tees, and a snack shop that serves hot sandwiches, snacks and a cold can of beer or a beverage of your choice.
Taylorville will be holding our annual Twilight Christmas Parade on December 3, 2016 beginning at 5 p.m. This year our parade will honor our Veterans and our theme is "I'll Be Home For Christmas". WW II Veterans are being asked to be our grand marshalls and all Veterans are encourage to join the parade or come to the Taylorville Square to watch and be honored.
Tour-goers will be the first to see the transformation of the former First Baptist Church sanctuary into an opulent great hall decorated in the tradition of Downton Abbey, the famous PBS series. Guests will enjoy complimentary sparkling cider as they explore the hall, now a new event center. They will be invited to pose for selfies with life-size cut-outs of Lady Mary and other favorites from the TV show. Six private homes decorated in the Downton-style will be open to the public. Other attractions will be Christmas markets, a cookie walk and live Downton music. All tour-goers are eligible for prize drawings for Downton collectibles.
