Sculpture on the Avenue
Come explore the sculptures that have transformed the City of Effingham's avenues into an art gallery. Over 30 sculptures created by some of the Midwest's best known and unknown sculptors bring life to the streets of Effingham as part of the annual "Sculptures on the Avenues" outdoor exhibition. Sculptures on the Avenues is a self-guided walking tour that begins at City Hall, located at 201 E. Jefferson Ave. From there, the exhibition winds in and out of Downtown Effingham. An informative guide, which facilitates a walking tour, is available at the Effingham Visitors Center or City Hall.
Effingham County Courthouse
The courthouse was built in 1871 after Effingham was named the county seat. The courhouse retains a pristine exterior and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It also features a museum inside. The museum displays two rooms devoted to the military, which gets changed throughout the year. It also has a room dedicated to the railroads in Effingham County. The Effingham County Courthouse is open Tuesday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wonderland in Lights
Each year, the City of Effingham and the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau turn Community Park into a winter wonderland! Wonderland in Lights, a drive-through light display, features a variety of lighted holiday scenes including reindeer flying, Santa coming down the chimney and a Nativity scene. We continue to add new lighting displays each year to grow the display. Santa visits the Wonderland in Lights every Saturday to bring special presents to the children. Come drive through the light display and stick around to talk to Santa and listen to your favorite Christmas carols! The Wonderland in Lights is free, but donations are welcome.
Join Corvette enthusiasts at one of the largest car shows in the nation! Over 13,000 Corvettes are expected to be on display at this event hosted by Mid America Motorworks. Activities include a live Corvette auction, burn-out competitions, technical seminars, live musical entertainment, celebrity autographs and much more!

Teutopolis Monastery Museum
See displays of early life in this German Catholic community, founded in 1838. The first Franciscans arrived in October 1858, and the three priests and six brothers quickly set about building a parish and friary.

Historic National Road Scenic Byway
The National Road is called the "road that built the nation" because it was the first highway in American history. Today the National Road in Illinois covers 164 miles, from Marshall and the Wabash Valley to East St. Louis and the Mississippi River.
National Road Interpretive Center
The National Road Interpretive Center in Vandalia, Illinois tells the story of the surveyors, laborers and travelers of the National Road, sometimes called the Cumberland Road or National Pike. The Interpretive Center is a museum with hands-on activities for children including a Conestoga wagon that the youngsters can load for its journey. Abraham Lincoln’s connection to Illinois National Road towns is also spotlighted. One of the largest artifacts is an original National Road timber dating to the 1830s. Visitors will develop a better understanding of the importance of this road to Illinois and American history as well as an appreciation for the people that were involved in its construction.

Grand Levee and Harvest Festival
The Grande Levee is a celebration of the grand receptions held during the 1800s to honor government dignitaries and important visitors. Friday evening the event kicks-off with a ham and bean dinner on the Vandalia Statehouse grounds along with musical entertainment. Saturday brings a day full of events at the Statehouse grounds for the Ground Levee.
