139th Annual Summer Festival Oktoberfest in August
Fun times for all ages at the annual Octoberfest held at the Schwaben Center. German Food, 800 seat beer tent, live music, dancing, arcades, giant slide and free baggo. Friday night is rock and roll night, Saturday music by Amazing Mike, One Man Band, German music and dancers performing throughout the day. This event will feature food trucks from around the region offering global street food cuisine. The event offers carnival rides, games, free entertainment, food and more. The annual free fair parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

Enjoy hay rides, pumpkin painting and tug-of-war in the Forest Preserve District of Will County's Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve. Explore the Nature Center and its critters and snack on s'mores around a campfire while grooving to live outdoor music. Vendors and artisans will be on hand. Highwood's 5th Annual Garlic Fest
This fun, food-filled event showcases the ever-popular taste of Garlic. Attendees come to sample a variety of garlic creations from out-of-the-ordinary garlic ice cream, candy, cupcakes and cocktails, to the more usual pastas, sauces, breads, and butters. Held during the Evening Market, the fest features a Taste of Garlic Competition for the Savory and Sweet categories, as well as the very popular Garlic Queen and Princess Competitions. The Midwest Wizard of Oz Festival has been a long standing tradition began in 1982 when Wizard of Oz store owner, Jean Nelson, came up with the idea to create an Oz-themed festival. Pere Marquette Rendezvous
Step back in time to the days when frontier fur trappers met with fur traders and buyers during this reenactment festival at Pere Marquette State Park. The Second Annual Pere Marquette State Park Rendezvous will be a traditional Pre-1840 event with buckskinned re-enactors portraying primitive traders and campers. There will be period demonstrations, black powder and longbow shoots, camp music and food common to days on the Illinois frontier. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.

The Sandwich Fair (DeKalb County Fair) is the oldest continuing fair in the State of Illinois. It brings over 175,000 visitors to the Sandwich Fairgrounds every year with harness races, draft horse pulls, carnival rides, demo derby, grandstand shows and the Midwest’s largest display of agricultural and home arts exhibits. It’s a traditional fair with the awesome fun of a modern theme park. The Sandwich Fair is quaint, old-fashioned fun – a great place to stay connected. There’s something for everyone! Join the fun! During the Annual Scarecrow Daze Festival, the entire city of Shelbyville is decorated with scarecrows. With a different theme every year, entrants decorate their homes and businesses to the theme. There is also a large parade on Saturday, kids' games, a beer tent, music, a quilt show, and plenty of food and crafts, in downtown Shelbyville.

Urbana Sweetcorn Festival
The Urbana Sweetcorn Festival is Champaign County’s largest free festival. Urbana’s signature summer event is a two-day celebration of food, live music, arts and crafts and of course - all the delicious, locally grown sweet corn you can eat. Taking place in the heart of downtown Urbana, the 2016 festival will run Friday, August 26 from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Windsor Harvest Picnic
Come and enjoy this family-friendly festival in its 120th year. Entertainment comes to you in gospel, country and rock. Fountain City Amusements provides a carnival atmosphere with plenty of food as well as the Ice Cream Social. There is also a 5K run/walk, a pedal tractor pull, parade, and a raffle drawing. Entertainment this year is Gospel Group Firebox, Phil Dirt presents Surfs Up, a tribute to the Beach Boys, and Country Artists Chris Cavanough and Shenandoah.
