Join the Joliet Slammers for affordable, family fun all summer long! Parking is free or you can take the train to beautiful Silver Cross Field located in downtown Joliet, IL. The Joliet Slammers are a professional baseball team based in Joliet, IL that play in the independent Frontier League. Home games are played at Silver Cross Field in Joliet. They are the 2011 Frontier League champions.

Annual Recreational League Soccer Tournament for ages 5 to 18. Hosted by Marion Soccer, Inc. and held at the Marion Soccer Complex. This invitational tournament will bring over 100 teams from six states to play for the Whirlwind Title.

The Sycamore 10K Pumpkin Run is headed into its 38th year! Feet will hit the street Sunday, October 30th at 9:05am. The 10K is held during Sycamore Illinois’ world famous Pumpkin Festival. This race has become a staple in the Northern Illinois race schedule. In 2015, we had over 1,800 participants running. Awards are given to the top three finishers in 11 age groups!

Try your hand at the Litchfield TriathLou at Lake Lou Yaeger. Swimming in Lake Lou Yaeger is the best open water swim you will have in the Midwest. There really is no comparison to this large beach with pristine flat racing water. The bike course is flat and fast with some great curves to keep you entertained the whole ride. Both the 5k and 10k runs see very honest mile paces with plenty of flats, and a couple hills throughout. Sprint and Olympic distances are available.
The NIU Huskies Football Team will play five home games at Huskie Stadium during the 2016 season. The Home Season opener is Saturday September 17th vs San Diego State. The season continues with Western Illinois on Saturday, September 25th and Central Michigan on Saturday, October 15th. Homecoming is October 22nd vs. the Buffalo Bulls and the final game at Huskie Stadium is Tuesday November 1st. NIU will also be playing a "Home" game at US Cellular Field on November 9th vs Toledo. The race’s iconic course takes runners through 29 vibrant neighborhoods on an architectural and cultural tour of Chicago. In 2015, an estimated 1.7 million spectators lined the streets, cheering on 37,459 runners from the start line to the final stretch down Columbus Drive. As a result of the race’s national and international draw, the Chicago Marathon assists in raising millions of dollars for a variety of charitable causes while generating $254 million in annual economic impact to its host city. The 2016 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, a member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, will start and finish in Grant Park beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 9.
The Ironwood Golf Course is the Town's full service golf facility with 18 holes, 7,100 yards and a par 72 championship layout playing from 5400-7100 yards with four sets of tees. The course offers cart rental, a driving range and has a pro shop with club rental. Ironwood was designed by highly regarded golf course designer Roger Packard and meanders through the Ironwood residential subdivision. Opened in 1990, Ironwood Golf Course has hosted numerous high school regional, sectional and conference tournaments, collegiate invitational tournaments, local charity events and site of C.D.G.A and U.S.G.A. qualifiers.

Presented by the Alpine Runners, this is a 1/2 Marathon, 5K Run/Walk, Youth Mile, and also offers kid's races. Something for all runners and the whole family. The races run through the streets and along the shores of beautiful Paulus Park in Lake Zurich. Gatorade, water, and time splits will be available along the course. Northern Illinois University and the University of Toledo will play in the "Huskie Chi-Town Showdown," the first football game in the 25-year history of U.S. Cellular Field, on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. Annually one of the Mid-American Conference's premiere contests, the #MACtion game between MAC West Division rivals will air nationally on an ESPN Network at a time to be determined. Single game tickets for the Huskie Chi-Town Showdown will be priced at $45, $55 and $65 and will go on sale via Ticketmaster on August 1 along with single game tickets for NIU's five Huskie Stadium home games. NIU students will be admitted free with their OneCard and can purchase student guest tickets for $22.

The 2017 NCAA National Golf Championships will be held at Rich Harvest Farms and hosted for the first time by Northern Illinois University, with play taking place from May 19-24 (women) and May 26-31 (men). Sugar Grove will be only the third Illinois city to host the Division I Golf Championships. Cook County’s Olympia Fields Country Club hosted the men’s championship in 1943, while Conway Farms Golf Club outside of Chicago played host to the men’s as well in 1997.

Steeped in tradition, the YMCA's Rowing Crew plays host to the Head of the Rock Regatta every October. This decades-old race draws more than 2,000 rowers from across the country and more than 5,000 spectators to the banks of the Rock River. The Head of the Rock Regatta is a rowing race of 5,000 meters (3.2 miles) on the Rock River, beginning at Martin Park and finishing at the YMCA. It is a sanctioned event of the United States Rowing Association, requiring the observance of USRowing race protocol. Suggested viewing spots are Martin Park, The Symbol, Sinnissippi Gardens, and anywhere along the east bank of the river between Riverside Boulevard and Whitman Street. Bring picnics, chairs and blankets and get a spot early to enjoy a relaxing event.
