The Kishwaukee Valley Art League is proud to bring its annual Northern Illinois Art Show to the public. Held each spring in Sycamore, Illinois on the Dekalb County Courthouse lawn and now in its 42nd year, the Northern Illinois Art Show features the work of artists in fine arts and fine crafts from across the Midwest. A Hundred Acres Orchard and Market

Annual Rhubarb Festival

Christmas Wonderland
Begin your holiday celebration escaping from the chaos of the season and experiencing the enchantment of Christmas at the "Christmas Wonderland" holiday light display. The "Grandpa Gang" has been at it again transforming Rock Springs Park in Alton, Illinois into a Winter Wonderland. Visitors can drive through the park to view more than 2 million lights, cascading waterfalls of lights, lighted trees and displays, and visit Santa Claus in the Enchanted Forest. Christmas Wonderland 2009 will be open from November 27th through December 27th. The suggested donation is $7 for cars and small vans or $1 per person for vehicles holding more than 10 people. Find local produce featuring seasonal fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, dairy products and more sold directly off the trucks. Also, the market will feature local chefs and specialists selling a variety of treats including swirl cupcakes, pies, ice pops, cookies and sweets, appetizers, dips, salsas, homemade granola, croutons, homemade lemonade, ice tea and a variety of cold drinks, caramel sauce, hot fudge sauce and homemade marshmallows. Civil War Ball, Dinner and Style Show
Logan Rail splitting Association will sponsor its annual Civil War Ball and this year is adding a dinner and style show. Civil War era clothing is encouraged, but dancers are also welcome to come in modern casual attire. Never danced before? Don't worry. Instructors are available to walk newcomers through the dances. Cruise Night
Join in an old-fashioned cruise through downtown Freeport. There will be live music , a food court offering a variety of tasty choices, and three contests: the Soundwerks and Tailor Made Autoworks Sound Off Contest, the Gary's Collision & Customs Muffler rapping Contest, and the Dan's Route 66 Service Burn Out Contest. There will be a lot filled with antique cars, Hot Rod Alley and two main parking lots for the classic cars, and cruising all night long. Deerfield's Annual Fine Arts Festival

DeKalb Corn Fest
Corn Fest is one of the last, free, summer, music festivals among Illinois music and summer festivals in Illinois. Well over 100,000 people from around Illinois and the Midwest attend the music festival over a three day weekend. This festival features a carnival complete with rides and games, food booths, free live music, kiddie korner with large inflatables, family entertainment and much more. Friday night is carnival wristband nights for the kids with unlimited rides from 6-10pm. "The Popcorn Shop" was opened in 1934 by John Baldwin. In 1945, Mr. Baldwin leased his business to Del and Emily Barnett. A year later the Barnetts purchased The Popcorn Shop and changed the name to "Del's Popcorn Shop". Lou Ann Jacobs purchased the Decatur business in 1978 and has added her own flare and expertise to the business taking it way beyond what anyone could have imagined. Des Plaines Summer Fling
It's a weekend-long shindig for both the community and its neighbors when Des Plaines Summer Fling returns for its second year to the near-northwest suburb. Back again will be a non-stop music lineup, arts & craft vendors, kids' activities (including pony rides and a petting zoo), food vendors and carnival rides (which kick off the weekend early on Thursday, July 18).
