Oakbrook Center is proud to partner with the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, the organizers of the very popular Christkindlmarket Chicago, and this year once again host the Christkindlmarket Oakbrook in the Village Green area. The Christkindlmarket Oakbrook is an outdoor holiday market featuring vendors from around the world who display hand-crafted ornaments, toys and unique holiday gifts as well as traditional German foods, sweets and beverages. Open November 27-December 20.
Christmas Around the World & Holiday of Lights
As is tradition, the museum's 45-foot Grand Tree takes center stage in the Rotunda decked out in 30,000 lights. It takes on a different theme each year so expect giant gears to be part of the decor to match the special MSI exhibit, Robot Revolution. Surrounding it will be more than 50 smaller trees beautifully decorated by volunteers from Chicago communities to represent their various cultures and holiday traditions. The occasional falling of "snow" adds to the fun.
Clayville Historic Site
The centerpiece of Clayville is the Broadwell Inn, the oldest brick building in Sangamon County, built in 1824 by the Broadwell family as a stage coach stop between Springfield and Beardstown. The Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is surrounded by numerous other historic buildings from Central Illinois moved to Clayville in the 1960s to recreate an early frontier pioneer village. Come see a unique piece of Illinois history.
Dicken's Holiday Village
Olde England comes alive in Historic Downtown Antioch with lifelike figures representing scenes from the Dickens Era. The Dickens Holiday Village is back and the handcrafted Dickens characters made by our volunteer artists will bring a Public Art Program that is free for everyone to enjoy! Antioch will proudly displayed 45 Dickens characters for people to tour. Each character has a plaque describing the scene and also serves as an educational tool for students. Take a self-guided tour with one of our Dickens Walking Brochure Maps or reserve a tour guide for groups of 24 or more. Plus there is plenty of Dickens Fun for everyone in November and December. You may enjoy Dickens Teas, an Antioch "Oliver" dog afternoon, Dress like Dickens event, and much more.

Ellwood House Holiday Traditions Tours
Enjoy a holiday open house and tours of the beautifully decorated Ellwood House Mansion. Every November, the Ellwood Museum partners with area businesses, community sponsors, and volunteers to decorate the mansion room-by-room on all four floors. From November 15-29, (closed Mondays and Thanksgiving) our guided holiday tours give visitors the opportunity to see the mansion in a new light. See our VISIT page for hours and information. At the end of our touring season, we open the doors for a three-day Holiday Open House weekend. Visitors may purchase tickets in the Visitor Center (or online) and present their tickets at the front door of the mansion. Upon entering the decorated mansion, volunteers will be stationed in each room, presenting the history of the Ellwood House and sharing information about the two generations of Ellwood family members who called Ellwood House home.

Great River Eagle Days

Hardin County Heritage Festival
The Hardin County Heritage Festival and Duck Race on the Ohio river celebrates the county’s rich heritage and history. The event includes exceptional period entertainment and activities to fill your weekend, including; 1800’s outdoor play, Civil War reenactment, pageant, quilt show, duck race, area craft and food vendors. Festivities also include a period ball, a Regal Women’s Tea and live entertainment throughout. Holiday Open House at the Sycamore History Museum
Sycamore History Museum says “Thank you” to its supporters Saturday, December 5th during their Annual Holiday Open House. This free event is fun for everyone who loves the holidays. Enjoy festive music, drink hot chocolate, take home a craft activity, and decorate sugar cookies. The museum will also be open for tours led by the Junior Docents.
Sponsored by Jacksonville Rotary Club at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. Come out for children and adult games, wiener dog race, wine and beer tasting, washers tournament, entertainment by The Waterloo German Band and The Heidelberg German Band as they perform music in the tradition of the German Beer Hall playing polkas, waltzes and big band music from the 1920's to 1980's pop music. DJ music will play through the rest of the day.

Memory, an exhibit of portraits
Memory is an exhibition of portraits that reflect less the "sitter's" likeness than their psychological state. Works include paintings, colored pencil drawings, prints and pastels by Judith Roth, Ellen Holtzblatt, John Smolko and Joseph Taylor.
Midsommar Music Festival

Midwest Museum of Natural History Festival of Trees
See the Midwest Museum of Natural History decked out for the Holidays during the 2015 Festival of Trees. NIU School of Art and Design Faculty Biennial invitational exhibition
The 2015 – 2016 Faculty Biennial exhibition features new work and current research of faculty from all divisions of the NIU School of Art and Design. Every two years the biennial emphasizes the caliber of the faculty and the breadth and strength of the arts programs offered at NIU from various disciplines including fibers, time arts, visual communication and illustration, painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, printmaking, metals and jewelry, and art history, and art education.
Port Clinton Art Festival
Port Clinton Art Festival is one of the most successful juried art festivals and attracts more than 250,000 art enthusiasts from places near and far. More than 260 of the world’s most celebrated artists come together to showcase their work over the course of the weekend, creating an atmosphere brimming with renowned creativity. Shakespeare's First Folio Exhibition
The Lake County Discovery Museum has been selected as the host site for the state of Illinois for First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare, a national traveling exhibition of the Shakespeare First Folio, one of the world’s most treasured books. Accompanying the rare book will be a multi-panel exhibition exploring the significance of Shakespeare, then and now, with additional digital content and interactive activities. During the exhibition, the Lake County Discovery Museum is planning numerous programs for the public and families around the First Folio exhibition.

The Original American Passion Play
Now in its 93rd season, the American Passion Play is one of the oldest, continuously-performed, passion plays in the United States. This Biblically accurate performance takes the audience on a spiritual journey to Palestine, 30 AD where they travel with the living Christ, meet his Apostles and follow his ministry from the Sermon on the Mount to His resurrection and ascension. The play features beautiful scenery, live pipe organ music, live voices and even live animals.
