Fort Lamotte is a construction of a civilian style early 19th century American fort, featuring a two story block house and small log cabin. Construction began in spring of 2007 with all volunteer labor, donations of materials by various people and businesses. The block house is mainly constructed of popular logs as is the cabin. Local hickory was used for the cantilever logs, between 1st and 2nd stories with a puncheon 2nd story floor and persimmon trusses. The stockade walls are of locally grown hedge and black locust. This is the third fort to bear the name Lamotte.

The area is named after the Lincoln Heritage Trail where Abraham Lincoln's family followed en route from Indiana to Illinois in 1831. Lincoln Trail State Park offers American beech woods and a nature preserve with hiking trails, boat rentals, camping, biking, bird watching, fishing, ice fishing and ice skating. The Marshall Log Cabin Visitors Center
Step back in time while you gather information about Marshall and the surrounding area. This quaint log cabin was originally located nine miles south of Marshall. Be sure to travel Highway 40 and the Historic National Road Scenic Byway.
Six log cabins recreate life as it had been in Illinois back in 1812. Visit the homestead belonging to the Hutson family before a fatal Indian attack killed Isaac Hutson's entire family.
Castle Finn Winery
Family owned and located in Southern Edgar County, out in the country on a pond. We opened in August 1st, 2010 and produce and bottle our own wine. Our banquet hall is 40'x60' area which is used for weddings/receptions, murder mystery dinners, comedy shows, and other events throughout the year. You may sit inside in the tasting room, or venture outside to the wine garden area with tables and chairs or picnic tables around the pond to sit and enjoy your wine. You are welcome to bring in your own snack food, but absolutely no drinks allowed.

Mill Creek Park
Mill Creek Park is located seven miles northwest of Marshall, Illinois on the Lincoln Heritage Trail road. Mill Creek consists of 2,600 acres of land and 811 acres of water with 39 miles of shoreline. Since opening, the park has continued to develop; there are picnic areas on either side of the boat launch and at areas around the lake, a 139 site campground with shower facilities and playground, 15 mile ATV trails, horse and walking trails, courtesy docks, cabin and boat rental including kayaks and paddle boats.

The Lincoln School is representative of the brick construction of one-room schools built during the 1880’s, representing the typical one-room school of the era, and the education available of that time. The Lincoln School Museum is open to the public on weekends from June through August and any time by appointment.

World's Largest Wind Chimes
With chimes suspended nearly 50 feet above the ground, the BEI wind chime is a sight to behold! The longest of five chimes is 42 feet long-almost double that of the past world record holder. The chimes sing gentle and deep as they strike the clapper, long gleaming lengths paying tribute to BEI's expertise in the pipeline industry. Stick around to visit the tea shop next door!
The Moonshine Store is situated at a country crossroads near the town of Martinsville. It is an adventure in itself just finding the place. What makes it special is the unique atmosphere of this little country store that is home to the famous “Moonburger”. It has been featured on the CBS Morning Show. It is a “must stop” location for travelers with its guest book logging visitors from all 50 states and around the world. In April 2014, a new record was set where 3,251 burgers were served during a major motorcycle rally, the Moonshine Lunch Run.

World's Largest Horseshoe
Weighing in at 1,144 lbs and measuring 5'8" by 4' 5/8", this horseshoe is sure to bring good luck to all that visit. The Martinsville Horseshoe gained its Guinness Book of World Record status in 2013. The horseshoe stands at the entrance to the Martinsville fairgrounds.

World's Largest Knitting Needles and Crochet Hook
The World's Largest Knitting Needles and Crochet Hook are located inside The Yarn Studio in downtown Casey, Illinois. In order to make it in to the Guinness Book of World Records shop owner, Jeanette Huisinga, had to knit and crochet a 10X10 square with the largest tools. Knitting Needles are 13ft .75in and 25 pounds each. Crochet Hook measures at 6ft. 1.5in and weight is 9lbs.
