Bald Eagle Watch Weekend
"Eagle Watch Weekend" includes activites both at the Starved Rock Lodge and the Illinois Waterway Visitors Center. You don’t have to travel north to see these majestic birds of prey. Thousands of eagles migrate south from Canada during the winter and Illinois is one of the homes of the greatest population of wintering bald eagles. For a birds eye view, hike to the top of the Rock.
Directed by Ellen Marincic, this warm comedy set in a drought-ridden rural town during the Depression features spinster, Lizzy Curry's family, who are beginning to despair of her ever finding a husband. Then into town rides a con man who promises to bring rain in exchange for $100. Can he also change the forecast for Lizzy? Shows are Friday & Saturday at 7:30PM and Sunday at 2:00PM. Topic: "The TR! Show". Derek Evans presents "The TR! Show" at our November session. Mr. Evans brings to life the dynamic character of Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, the youngest President of the United States, was one of the most interesting men who ever lived. Throughout his life he was a cattle rancher, deputy sheriff, historian, naturalist, explorer, author of 35 books, police commissioner, assistant secretary of the Navy, governor of New York, war hero, lawyer, and the first American to win a Nobel Prize. Speaker, Mr. Evans was trained for the theatre at Northwestern University, New York University, and the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. As manager and director of the Monarch Theatre Company, he brought Shakespeare, Opera, and literary adaptations to schools throughout the American Midwest. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
A play based on the book written by Barbara Robinson in 1971. It tells the story of Imogene, Claude, Ralph, Leroy, Ollie, and Gladys, six delinquent children surnamed Herdman. They go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. Despite protests from other church members, they are given roles in the Sunday school's Christmas play, in which they tell the Christmas story in a non-conventional fashion.

Starved Rock Lodge's Outdoor Woman Workshop
Trade your to-do list for a weekend for yourself and friends. Ever wanted to pull back a bow and shoot an arrow? How about learning the proper way to saddle a horse? This is a day filled with fun where women from all over will gather and learn nontraditional skills in a relaxed environment. Starved Rock Lodge and the National Wild Turkey Federation bring classes to this workshop, such as shooting. 5 workshops, 2 meals and snacks are included in both days events. The only class that will be offered on Friday is shooting and Friday is not sold alone. Call to reserve a spot! Participation in only Saturday's workshops is $65 and both days is $92 per person.

Storytelling at Fox Ridge
Many different storytelling events are held under the serenity of the pines at Fox Ridge, our outdoor education & entertainment venue, across from the main doors of the Lodge. Campfire Stories are every Saturday night from July through October. Join us and some of the Illinois Valley’s most engaging storytellers as they share stories, legends, facts and fiction around the fire. Audience participation is welcome so be ready for some fun! Storytime starts at 7:00 pm. Come and sit around the campfire and share your own stories as well as listen to stories told by professionals. Don't worry about the snacks. Popcorn and supplies for s'mores will be sold at the Fox's Den.
New Year's Eve Overnight at Starved Rock Lodge
Join the party and stay the night on New Year's Eve-Dec. 31, 2014. Stay a night at the historic Starved Rock Lodge where the New Year's Eve party takes place in the Great Hall and Starved Rock Room. The two-sided fireplace is aglow and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The cocktail hour begins with an open bar and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a New Year's Eve Dinner Buffet, a champagne toast at midnight, 1:00 am pastries and brunch on New Year`s Day. Two live bands performing during the evening to keep you entertained!

Join the jolliest man, as well as the Mrs., for a breakfast buffet at Starved Rock Lodge. Following breakfast, you'll be treated to "Magic by Cory". Pioneer Gothic Church
Built in 1857, this church is a fine example of Carpenter Gothic Architecture. Pointed arched windows and doors as well as board and batten frame construction characterize this style. King Edward VII worshipped at the church in 1860, while on a hunting expedition in the area. The church was named as one of the “150 Architectural Treasures” in the State of Illinois by the Association of Illinois Architects in 2007, and is listed on the National Historic Register.

Hike into History
This hiking tour is offered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights every month (excluding July and October). There's nothing better than a guided hike to see the best parts of the park and learn its rich history. Reserve your room or cabin at Starved Rock Lodge on Tuesday or Wednesday night and take a guided hike on Wednesday or Thursday morning at 9:00 am from the Lobby. When you get back from your hike, you'll enjoy lunch in the Dining Room. The hike on Tuesday and Wednesday will go to Starved Rock and French Canyon unless otherwise requested. On Thursday you will join the weekly Walkers Club and go along with them on their pre-scheduled, weekly hike. Family Cabins are excluded from packages.
