Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area

Historic Marbold Farmstead
The Historic Marbold Farmstead is a treasured jewel in Menard County, Illinois. This was the central hub of the Marbold family farmland holdings, which consisted of over 4,000 acres. It was virtually self-sufficient, with several barns, dairy, chicken house, smoke house, ice house, boiler house and pump house. The original house, called Elmwood, was build in 1850 by John Marbold, a German immigrant and prominent Greenview farmer and businessman. Restoration efforts are underway. Located at 21722 State Hwy. 29 near Greenview.

This Sunday features Dick Lyons, a native of Montgomery County and fourth-generation farmer growing corn, soybeans, and wheat with cover crops, will share his knowledge of farming practices dating from the 1800's to today's technological world of modern agriculture. A special added feature at the June Second Sunday will be Heart Strings, a dulcimer group from Petersburg.

The Ironstone Room
Willett's Winery & Cellar is thrilled to announce the opening of their restaurant, The Ironstone Room. Executive Chef Kevin Roecker is planning quite a culinary experience. Ironstone China is a type of stoneware introduced in England in the early 1800's by potters using the country's ironstone to develop a porcelain-like china that could be mass produced. Eventually, Ironstone China was exported primarily to the United States between about 1840 and 1890. Dan's mother, Elsie Willett, has been a collector of Ironstone China for many years. Her collection will be displayed in the Ironstone Room of Willett's Winery & Cellar. Our menu changes seasonally, and offers suggested wine pairings from our winery.

Lick Creek Golf Course is located at 2210 N. Parkway Drive in Pekin, Illinois. During it's recent renovation, all of the tees and fairways were converted to bentgrass and the greens were re-planted with a newer generation to allow for faster, truer ball roll on greens. All of the bunkers were rebuilt and the golf car paths were re-paved with new asphalt. Lick Creek offers a driving range, pro shop and concession area for all golfers needs. Climb aboard the Trolley, sit back and relax as we bring the history of historic Petersburg Illinois and the surrounding area to you. We will take you past several points of interest along your journey back in history. Petersburg is rich in Victorian Homes, most of which were built in the 1860's and 1870's. During your journey into history, you will be entertained by points of interest along the way. We will stop for a short while in downtown Petersburg. At this time, you may choose to disembark and enjoy the downtown area on foot. There are a variety of shops and eateries to wander through. Don't worry, the trolley will return to pick you up. Your ticket includes a round trip back to Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site. The Trolley runs on an hourly schedule. Consult with your conductor as to the return pick up times as well as the time of the last trolley of the day. Charter Available.
The Branson House Bed & Breakfast

A two-storied square pillared porch extends to the roof line. Behind the imposing facade lie an equally imposing series of rooms. This house boasts seven marble fireplaces, four downstairs and three in upstairs bedrooms plus a magnificent wood sculptured fireplace in the main entry hallway. An elevator installed in the 1950’s allows for easy access to the second floor bedrooms. Central air and heating has also been installed throughout the house.
Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site
Step back in time and explore historic New Salem just as Lincoln knew it. This meticulously reconstructed 1830s village is where Lincoln lived as a young adult, studied law and began politics. Everything from the people to the blacksmith’s workshop gives visitors a glimpse into what pioneer life was really like when young, burly Abe was throwing down his axe.
Fall Festival at New Salem
Typical autumn life on the 1830s Illinois prairie will be demonstrated. Costumed interpreters will demonstrate daily tasks such as candle dipping, butter churning, soap making, basket making, spinning wool, gardening, natural dyeing, and fishing with nets. Demonstrations of meat smoking will take place in one of the log village's period smokehouses, and wild game cooking will be demonstrated in the log homes. Visitors can step down into the cellar at the tavern to see how fruits and vegetables were preserved during the winter.

The Loft B&B
The Loft Bed & Breakfast is a unique and relaxing retreat featuring the finest amenities in a scenic private setting. Located on 63 rolling acres between the many attractions and tourist sites in Springfield and historic Petersburg, Illinois, You’ll see deer, turkey, fox and an occasional eagle from the windows or the deck. Or take a leisurely hike down to the river bluffs. You’ll be surrounded by amazing peace and quiet. Enjoy this brand new and spacious B&B, complete with a large living room with leather sofa, chairs and a cozy fireplace. The kitchenette and dining areas will lend the creature comforts of home with a continental breakfast that is ready when you are. There are two sleeping areas that will accommodate six people. The solid hardwood floors add warmth and the bathroom features a custom tiled walk-in shower with a bench for relaxing. Walk outside on your private deck and enjoy a glass of wine with a spectacular second-story view of the countryside.
Menard County Fair
Running Tuesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 20, the Menard County Fair offers something for everyone. Enjoy the Queen Pageant, tractor pulls, harness racing, demolition derby, contests, live music, great food and much more. Check out the exhibits, contestants, and role of agriculture. Traditional Music Festival
Performers from all over the Midwest will entertain on such instruments as mountain and hammer dulcimers, concertinas, bones, autoharps, fiddles, banjos, and guitars. There will be a large clogging platform provided outside the village, which will be filled with cloggers starting at noon on Sunday.
Annual Harvest Fest - Downtown Petersburg
Harvest Fest is a major fall festival in the heart of Petersburg, IL on the historic square and features a huge parade, street vendors, live music, a large antique car show, games, contests, children’s attractions, fresh food and BBQ and much more.
Abe’s Trail Trek
Trail run consists of a 5k, 10k and 15k run on trails through Lincoln's New Salem. In addition to the terrain of the 5k course, the 10k and 15k courses will take you past an 1800's reproduction flatboat, grist mill, up and down more than 150 steps, past a pioneer cemetery and on to the Finish Line at the museum.
