Progress City Cluster of Dog Shows
The Progress City Cluster is a combination of dog shows hosted by the Champaign Illinois Kennel Club, the Mattoon Kennel Club, and the Sandemac Kennel Club. The shows begin at 8:30 on all four days and run until mid afternoon. Spectators are welcome to watch all shows at a price of $5 per car load. Please note, though, that un-entered dogs are NOT permitted at any of the shows. Also, please do not pet any dog without the owner/handlers permission.

Holiday Lights at Bunker Hill Historic Area
The historic buildings at Kennekuk County Park's Bunker Hill Historic Area will be decorated for the holidays and thousands of lights illuminated Friday - Sunday 5:00 - 8:00 PM through the holiday season.
Guests have the opportunity to rent canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats to explore the rivers and lakes at Kickapoo State Park. Canoe and kayak trips (8 or 13 mile) are offered or rentals can be done by the hour. Following your adventure, guests can grab a bite to eat at the on-site Dockside Cafe which offers live music throughout the summer.
Fun for the whole family including roasting hot dogs on an open fire, haunted trail rides and a kid's activity tent.

Festival of Trees
Annually, more than 14,000 visitors stream through the David S. Palmer Arena to see beautifully decorated trees and wreaths, participate in activities and entertainment, special events, and the sounds and tastes of the holidays at the Danville Festival of Trees. Proceeds from the Festival of Trees fund outreach programs that give back to the greater Danville community.
Elkhart Bird Watcher Walks
On Saturday, April 26, 2014 the Elkhart Historical Society will host Bird Watcher Walks on Elkhart Hill. Watchers will enjoy looking for migratory birds, this is a perfect opportunity for a spring family event. The outing will be on foot. Walks will last approximately 90 minutes. The walks will be offered at 6 am and 4 pm. Registration is limited to 15 people per walk.

32nd Annual Midwest Heritage Quilt Show
Beautiful quilts, some nearly 100 years old, will be on display at the Vermilion County Museum throughout the month of July. Awards will be given in 9 categories including bed quilts, purses and clothing, and wall hangings.
Watseka Farmers Market
This farmers market is located at the First Trust & Savings bank in downtown Watseka. There are approximately fifteen vendors. Most of the vendors sell homegrown fruits and vegetables. There are also craft vendors on site. Held on Saturdays, 7am-Noon, June through September.

The American Cornhole Organziation (ACO) will host its inaugural ACO Illinois State Championships of Cornhole with 160 single players and 160 doubles teams competing for a state title and opportunity to attend the ACO World Championships of Cornhole.

Hutson Massacre Pageant
The only outdoor presentation of its kind in the area. The pageant depicts the early settlers coming to what is now Crawford County and the forming of the town of Hutsonville. The town, township and creek were all named for the massacred first family, the Isaac Hutson's. Featuring also music and food - bring your lawn chairs. Pageant is free but a free-will offering will be taken. Event begins at dusk. Learn the history of Hutsonville, tour the museum, Hutson cabin, inn, country store, barn, loom room and Hutson Chapel.
Annual Bluegrass Jam
It’s bluegrass time again at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site, with both fans and performers gathering on Sunday, Aug. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Musicians from Illinois and Indiana will converge at the site for a day of jamming with informal groups playing along the creek throughout the day. The site’s volunteers will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs and more with proceeds benefit the historical and interpretive programs at the site. Anyone with a love of this unique style of music is welcome to join one of the many the groups playing in the park.

Torchlight Halloween Hike and Weenie Roast
Join us for a torchlight hike around the historic site then return to the Visitor Center for a Barn Dance and weenie roast. Lincoln Log Cabin is the last home of Thomas and Sarah Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's parents. It shares the site with the Sargent farm, an 1840's living history farm.
This is the story of hard work, being in the right place at the right time, talent and love. 42nd Street is a celebration of Broadway and the people involved in shows. It focuses on aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer, and takes us along her journey. Musical hits include "You're Getting to be a Habit with Me", "Dames", "I Know Now", "We're in the Money", "Lullaby of Broadway", Shuffle Off to Buffalo", and "42nd Street". Every audience enjoys watching the underdog succeed.

This event is a fundraiser for Watseka Area Firefighters, and features a teen dance, motorcycle fun ride, water ball tournament, and beer tent with entertainment. Bands include Triple Ot Buck and Nick Lynch and the Silversmiths.
Annual Arthur Quilt Show & Quilt Auction

Historic Marbold Farmstead
The Historic Marbold Farmstead is a treasured jewel in Menard County, Illinois. This was the central hub of the Marbold family farmland holdings, which consisted of over 4,000 acres. It was virtually self-sufficient, with several barns, dairy, chicken house, smoke house, ice house, boiler house and pump house. The original house, called Elmwood, was build in 1850 by John Marbold, a German immigrant and prominent Greenview farmer and businessman. Restoration efforts are underway. Located at 21722 State Hwy. 29 near Greenview.

The Annual Chicken Wing Cookoff at Hill Prairie Winery is a large festival that features competing chefs preparing their favorite (and often unique) wing flavors. Visitors can purchase wings and vote for their favorites. The music of Dueling Pianos is back by popular demand, so enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon in the rolling hills of beautiful Hill Prairie Winery in Oakford, Illinois. A 32 +/- bicycle race that starts and ends in Staunton, IL Firemen’s Park. While racing, riders stop at two check points (donut stops). While donut consumption is not mandatory, donuts consumed will reward the rider with 5 minutes off their time for each donut.

Sheep to Clothing at Lincoln Log Cabin
Follow the process of creating fabric in the 19th century, beginning with raw wool, our volunteers will take you through the entire spectrum of home based manufacturing process; quite literally from sheep to clothing. The Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation will kick off their fundraising campaign for the restoration of the Moore Home, scene of Abraham Lincoln’s family farewell before leaving for Washington DC in 1861, with a unique pledge drive. The site manager will be weaving Venetian Carpet throughout the day with pledges for the number of yards woven. Also enjoy the Victory Garden Plant Sale: the Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation will again be selling heirloom flowers, plants and herbs to raise funds to support the educational and interpretive programming at Lincoln Log Cabin. All events will run from 10am-4pm.
Monticello Railway Museum Father's Day Weekend
Fathers tour the train shed, then climb aboard a 1950s diesel powered train for an eight mile hour long round trip ride. Fathers ride free when accompanied by son or daughter. Reservations required.

48th Annual Virginia Bar-B-Que

Also enjoy Bar-B-Que lunch and dinner, flea market, carnival rides, continuous entertainment, awards, Queen contest, Karaoke contest. A fund raiser for community needs and projects.
A festival of strawberry-related activities and events. This includes special sales promotions throughout the Arthur area. A strawberry social is held in conjunction at the Otto Center south of town. Strawberries are available for purchase and there will be limited giveaways during the festival. Lots of entertainment and activities, including the bands Battle Creek, Gunny Sack Revue and Deep Water.
Arthur Area Freedom Celebration
The event kicks off with a parade followed by a gigantic fireworks display with an exceptional array of shells at Jurgens Park. The 500 ft. long Niagara Falls and the Wall of Fire are some of the crowd favorites. The finale and top crowd favorite is the Rural Patriot on his horse of freedom carrying the American Flag. Annual Abe’s River Race
Abe’s Canoe Race is a celebration on the beautiful Sangamon River that led a young Abraham Lincoln to settle in New Salem, and of course the rest is history. This event features a 19 mile canoe/kayak race for the serious competitors along with a gentle float for adults and families on a shorter course. This is a great way to see the river that is largely undeveloped and unchanged. Following the race, you’ll want to take in the fun at Riverbank Lodge for the Awards Ceremony, fresh grilled food, live music and drinks. Bement Old Glory Festival
Located in the beautiful City Park and lawns of the Bryant Cottage State Historic Site and Historic Bryant Home, the Old Glory Festival celebrates Bement’s patriotic and agricultural heritage by hosting 50+ events the second Saturday of every June. Events include patriotic themed events, live music, food, cricket spittin’ contest, stagecoach rides, camel rides, petting zoo, antique tractor show, classic car show, plus much more. Many events are free throughout the day. Bement’s Old Glory Festival is one small town festival you don’t want to miss. The event is from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Livingston County Ag Fair
Since 1930 this volunteer-run agricultural fair has provided fun family entertainment. Activities include a chainsaw carving auction, cake auction for Ag scholarships, the Broken Horn Rodeo, and the Ramer Demo Derby. Also included are livestock shows, agricultural exhibits, horse show, kiddie tractor pull and Ag Olympics.
