A River Through History is a living history reenactment of early American life at Columbia Woods Forest Preserve, as it was on the Illinois frontier prior to 1848, with emphasis on our local history from the fur trade era to the canal era. An exciting, entertaining and educational experience for all ages. We strive to create a better understanding and appreciation of our history by allowing the public and the reenactors to mingle, both as witnesses and participants, in our event. Finally, we seek to have the most authentic and highest quality reenactors and trade goods to represent our vision of the rendezvous to promote and enhance the historic, recreational and economic development of this new style National Park.

The Illinois Extension office for Boon, DeKalb and Ogle Counties is hosting a DeKalb County Farm Stroll on Sunday, July 19th from 11 am - 5 pm. Wondering where to find local food & farm products in DeKalb County? Satisfy your local food cravings and curiosities on the DeKalb County Farm Stroll! A free self-guided tour of more than a dozen diversified family farms. Some of the farms participating are: Jonamac Orchard, Waterman Winery & Vineyards, Heatherhope Farm, You Pick Berries and Honey Hill Orchard. Each location will have different events going on, but the stroll will allow participants to meet local farmers, get farm tours and demonstrations, sampling of fresh local products, and more. There is no starting location for the stroll, guests are welcome to visit as many or as few as they would like and in whatever order they would like. Joshua Turner is an American contemporary country music singer and actor. In 2003, he signed to MCA Nashville Records. That same year, his debut album's title track, "Long Black Train", was his breakthrough single release. His second album, Your Man (2006) accounted for his first two number one hits: "Your Man" and "Would You Go with Me," while 2007's Everything Is Fine included a No. 2 in "Firecracker." Haywire, released in 2010, produced his biggest hit, the No. 1 "Why Don't We Just Dance" and another number one in "All Over Me". It was followed by Punching Bag (2012), whose lead-off single "Time Is Love" was the biggest hit of 2012 according to Billboard Year-End.
Easter Seals 5K Run/Walk for the Kids
Pull out your running shoes because Easter Seals of LaSalle and Bureau Counties' annual 5K Run/Walk for the Kids will kick off during Ottawa's Riverfest festivities, Saturday Aug. 1. The 5K Run/Walk for the Kids starts and ends at Ottawa Township High School, 211 East Main St., Ottawa. Check in and race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m., runners start at 8:00 a.m. The run/walk follows a USA Track and Field certified course, winding through the historic east side of Ottawa including the scenic Illinois and Michigan Canal passage. 99% of all money raised at this event remains local, helping local children to achieve their maximum potential. Pre-registration is open now on line at www.runsignup.com. The registration fee is $25 until July 24 and $30 after. Easter Seals will be offering a new shorter race just for for kids immediately following the 5K awards at Ottawa High School. The race is $10 and each child that participates will receive a t-shirt and prize.

The Fine Art Fair will be held on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm at Latham Park in downtown Lincoln. Traditionally, over 70 juried artists from various mediums make this fine art fair one of Central Illinois’ best. We are proud to offer art of all mediums. Come enjoy the mass ascension of the hot air balloons in the skies of Logan County. Morning and evening flights both Friday and Saturday (weather permitting). Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra Halloween Concert
The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit community orchestra which provides a place for area musicians to use their talents in an orchestral setting. The orchestra consists of professional, student, and dedicated amateur musicians. The KSO will present its annual free concert of music with a theme appropriate for children and adults. The 5:30 concert will be repeated at 7:30, and there will be trick-or-treating in the building a half hour before the 5:30 concert. The concerts will take place at NIU Boutell Memorial Concert Hall.

This 34st annual event includes a 400 meter indoor swim, a 17 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile run.
