The weekend begins on Thursday evening in Carbondale during the summer, as hundreds gather to attend the welcoming, relaxing and fun tradition that is the Sunset Concert series. 44th Annual Christmas Crossroads Craft Show
Christmas Crossroads, presented by the Lockport Woman's Club, has been a crowd pleaser since its inception in 1971. Featured this year will be 185-190 artisans and craftsmen from a 6 state area, selling such items as Christmas wreaths, centerpieces, ornaments, dolls and doll clothes. Also highlighted are hand painted glass and windows, bath salts and soaps, purses, plus quilted and sewn creations, dog/cat items, music boxes, jewelry, pottery, candles, garden art, and photographs. Also included are children's and women's clothing, a variety of Christmas angels and snowmen, herbal vinegar's and oils, dips, floral, furniture, American Girl/Bitty Baby accessories and wooden and country crafts. Local organizations participating include Trinity, Lockport Boy Scout Troop 63, Lockport Lion's Club, St. John Episcopal Church and Hospice. All proceeds from the show are used for collegiate, vocational and summer camp scholarships. The 5K Rugged River Run offers a challenging course where you will take a trek through the park, along rive trails, up and down hills and some stairs to end at the Lorado Taft Field Campus for breakfast. Race starts at 8:00 a.m.

Art fair consisting of selected exhibitors' work in a variety of disciplines including: ceramics, digital art, drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, graphics/printmaking, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture & wood. Silhouetted against classical architecture and stately mature trees, the artists set up their outdoor galleries around historic Market Square. There will also be a children's art tent for the creative little ones.

64th Annual Jubilee Days Festival
This weekend long festival begins Saturday with the annual 5K run, and in the evening the Miss Zion Pageants followed by an ice cream social. Sunday's entertainment includes the Arts and Crafts Festival, food, live music and fireworks. Monday will include the Mayors Breakfast, and Arts and Crafts Festival, food and the Jubilee Parade at 1pm. The largest Lake County Labor Day parade.

71st Annual National Sweetcorn Festival
Diligence, family, and a whole lot of corn! Each and every Labor Day weekend, for the past 70 years, the Hoopeston Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) hosts the National Sweetcorn Festival. Classic American festival events include a midway full of carnival rides, games, and stands of delicious fried goodness, smashing cars at the demo derby, and a grand parade featuring marching bands, pageant queens, and plenty of candy. Being the National Sweetcorn Capital of the World, Hoopeston has to have their own unique twists to the festival. An antique steam engine cooks more than 50 tons hot buttered sweetcorn and is served up to approximately 20,000 visitors over the course of the weekend free of charge! With a line that wraps around the park, it is clear that Hoopeston really does sweetcorn the right way, the best way.
