LaSalle County CASA (court appointed special advocate) is sponsoring it's 8th annual "Nothing's Sweeter than a Child" chocolate sampling and auction event. We have 20+ vendors who allow unlimited sampling of their chocolate delights. Music is provided and a silent and live auction are part of the event. "Decades of Design in River Forest" is the theme of our 2015 spring house walk, which features five homes in River Forest, spanning 125 years of architectural design and community history. The 12th annual walking tour of the interiors of five private homes takes place from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 3rd. This year's walk puts the spotlight on the wide variety of homes in the village, from the landmark Blocki House, built around the time the village was incorporated in 1880, to a contemporary home built in 2005 which features a glass atrium. Advanced tickets are $30, $25 for members and can be purchased on our website. Tickets also can be purchased for $35 on the day of the walk at Christ Episcopal Church.

This privately owned museum houses forty-two John Deere farm implements manufactured in the late 1920's through 1940. Showcased is a 1936 Model B John Deere Tractor, fully restored. Opening ceremonies begin on Friday evening and events continue through Sunday's final Nashville Country act on the stage. Livingston County 4-H Park is located 1.7 miles from downtown Pontiac. Nightly, weekly, and monthly rates are available. Sites for RVs include water, and either a 50amp or 30amp electrical service. There is a dump station on site. Bathrooms and grills are available. Unlimited tent sites. Pets allowed, but must be leashed at all times.

58th Annual Des Plaines River Canoe and Kayak Marathon
This is the second oldest continual canoe race in the United States. The race is 18½ miles on the beautiful and historic Des Plaines River. There are numerous classes to accommodate people of all ages and levels, with a new 5.25 mile Minithon, starts at the Potawatomie Woods in Wheeling, option possible for non-competitors seeking a shorter course that ends at the customary Finish Line. Note that while, as in the past, Marathon paddlers may still take out at the halfway point at Rivershire Park in Lincolnshire, you must now arrange your own car shuttle to or from this site!
