Chicago native Sarah Levy developed a passion for food at an early age. The daughter of Mark Levy, co-founder of Levy Restaurants, Sarah grew up surrounded by fine food and quickly developed a passion for all things sweet. Inspired by the joy that fine food can bring to peoples' lives, Sarah founded Sarah's Pastries & Candies. Sarah started her company making chocolate candies out of her mom's kitchen. After a year she had built up a wholesale business that includes 17 Whole Foods Markets in the Midwest. Sarah launched her first retail store at 11 E. Oak St. in September 2005. She has expanded her line to include morning pastries, cakes, tarts, espresso drinks and other delectable pastries.

Built in 1908, this National Register Property is one of Illinois’ few octagonal-shaped public libraries. Local volunteers who comprise the “Keepers of the Clock” take turns on a weekly basis hand-winding the 1909 Seth Thomas clock housed in the library’s clock tower.

Ryan's Round Barn
Tour this centennial barn, one of the largest in the country and one of forty-two left in the State of Illinois. It stands 80 feet high and 85 feet in diameter and features a 16-foot diameter floor to ceiling silo. A farm implement museum in on the main floor. Tours are provided by Friends of Johnson’s Park Foundation and groups of ten or more asked to call ahead. Open the first, third, and fifth Saturday beginning May through October. Now in its 93rd season, the American Passion Play is one of the oldest, continuously-performed, passion plays in the United States. Veterans Military Museum Depot
The Veterans Museum Depot is a restored C&I railroad depot that is filled with memorabilia from the Civil War to Desert Storm. In business at the same location since 1945, Nick's retains it's old fashioned charm while remaining an in-demand restaurant in the southwest Chicago suburbs. Bement Old Glory Festival
Located in the beautiful City Park and lawns of the Bryant Cottage State Historic Site and Historic Bryant Home, the Old Glory Festival celebrates Bement’s patriotic and agricultural heritage by hosting 50+ events the second Saturday of every June. Events include patriotic themed events, live music, food, cricket spittin’ contest, stagecoach rides, volleyball tournament, 5K run/walk, antique tractor show, classic car show, plus much more. Many events are free throughout the day. Bement’s Old Glory Festival is one small town festival you don’t want to miss. The event is from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Music & Wines Under the Pines
If the soft sound of the wind through the towering pines isn't enough for you on a Sunday afternoon (3pm-4:30pm), head to Fox Ridge at Starved Rock Lodge for outdoor concerts and a chance to sample and purchase Starved Rock wines.
