Fall Festival at Lincoln’s New Salem
Come and see what a typical autumn life was like on the 1830's Illinois prairie. There will be costumed interpreters demonstrating daily tasks such as candle dipping, butter churning, soap making, basket making, spinning wool, gardening, natural dyeing, and fishing with nets. As well as a demonstration of meat smoking that will take place in one of the log village's period smokehouses. Wild game cooking will be demonstrated in the log homes and you are also welcome to step down into the cellar at the tavern to see how fruits and vegetables were preserved during the winter.

Tailwinds Distilling Company is Chicago-land’s premiere Micro Distillery. Midwest Wizard of Oz Fest
The Midwest Wizard of Oz Festival has been a long standing tradition began in 1982 when Wizard of Oz store owner, Jean Nelson, came up with the idea to create an Oz-themed festival. Since then it has grown to be one of the biggest festivals in the nation that produced crowds of about 30,000 people each year. This year, for the first time ever, the Midwest Wizard of Oz Festival has been moved to the Chicago Southland area in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Villa Park Historical Museum
Built in 1929, the Villa Park Historical Museum building originally served the community as the Villa Ave stop for the Chicago, Aurora & Elgin electric train line and an appliance store. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Today, it houses relics and artifacts from Villa Park's past including articles from the Ovaltine Factory which once operated in Villa Park and Sears Catalog Homes in the area.

A must-see attraction in Kewanee is the Woodland Palace at Francis Park, the first “green” home in Illinois. This unusual home was built way ahead of its time and is filled with engineering wonders. Learn about the quirky and eccentric man who built and lived in the home. Fred Francis was an artist, poet, inventor, builder, mathematician, engineer, and a naturist. Francis started to build the home in 1890 and worked on it for the next thirty-six years. It features hand-carved molding, a water purification system, and is the first house in the state of Illinois to have air-conditioning without the aid of electricity. Watkins Place at McCully
Get away from it all and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature under the shade of the catalpa trees in this two bedroom cabin in scenic Calhoun County. The Watkins Place is private and secluded with access to the hiking trails at the McCully Heritage Project. 2015 Fall Cruise-In & Concert
