Highland Woods is located on the highest point in Cook County and is Forest Preserve Golf’s northwest suburban championship course. A challenging course, Highland Woods generous fairways are countered by 52 sand traps strategically placed throughout its rolling hills and tree-lined fairways. The course offers three sets of tees with water coming into play on six of the 18 holes. Highland Woods also features a lighted driving range with 48 hitting stalls and an on staff PGA professional.

2016 marks the 29th year of our annual Dickens in Dundee event to kick off the Christmas season. We invite all area residents to come out and join in the fun! Dickens in Dundee was formed in 1988. It began as a small community gathering, with caroling and the search for Tiny Tim's crutch in local stores. With the financial support of local businesses and the Villages of East Dundee and West Dundee, it has grown into a weekend holiday festival which attracts people from all over the Dundee area. The Cernan Earth & Space Center, a unique and sprawling space-age facility conveniently located on the Triton College campus in River Grove, combines education and entertainment with shows year round. The special seasonal exhibit, called Holiday Lights, is a jaw-dropping cosmic light show featuring carefully selected holiday tunes accompanied by thousands of starry and brilliantly lit images. Back by popular request, it's The Three Celli, performing a mix of music for one, two or three celli by some of the area's finest musicians. Stephen Balderston, former Assistant Principal Cello of the Chicago Symphony, is the Professor of Cello at DePaul University. Prior to joining the CSO in 1993, he performed for ten years with the Saint Louis Symphony. Linc Smelser, a member of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, is on the faculty of Northern Illinois University as well as the Music Director of the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Brant Taylor, a former member of the Saint Louis Symphony, has been a member of the Chicago Symphony since the 1997-1998 season. He also teaches at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of the Performing Arts and performs with the band Pink Martini. All Chamber Series concerts begin at 2:30 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Art Gallery of Wilson Hall.

Through the intelligence, ingenuity, and industry of many gifted people, it grew into one of the world’s great research institutions—a truly national resource for American physicists and a treasured destination for legions of international colleagues. Chris Quigg will trace the lab’s evolution from start-up to world-leading center, highlighting landmark research results while recalling iconic moments and extraordinary characters. Picosa is a new Chicago-based mixed chamber ensemble (flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano). Noted for its signature symphonic sound and virtuosity, Picosa presents an eclectic variety of works from baroque to contemporary, and soloist to full chamber ensemble. The ensemble’s unique approach to programming presents celebrated masterworks from across the centuries and around the globe. Picosa concerts are community gatherings, with lively conversations after every event. Picosa is also committed to nurturing rising young musicians through our Interludes Chamber Ensembles program, where student and amateur musicians play in pre-concert performances, and through our workshops, concerts, and residencies at local colleges. Additionally, Picosa seeks to be an arts collective, featuring cross-genre collaborations each season. All Chamber Series concerts begin at 2:30 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Art Gallery of Wilson Hall.
Fermilab continues its 50-year anniversary celebration with work from the artist who helped give Fermilab its visual identity, Artist Angela Gonzales. Fermilab founding director Robert Wilson hand-picked artist Angela Gonzales to help create a visual identity for Fermilab. “A Lasting Mark: Artist Angela Gonzales at Fermilab, 1967-1998” showcases her bold, inspiring work over 31 years at the lab. Opening reception at 5pm Thurs. June 1. The exhibit will run from June 1 to Sept. 30, 2017. Free and open to the public.
Watch amazing science demonstrations at the annual Wonders of Science show. This event is a fast-paced series of demonstrations on chemical and physical phenomena that will involve you and your young scientists mentally and at times, physically! Wonders of Science is an annual program provided by the Education Office at Fermilab. Each family with at least one child will receive a kit of materials that will enable them to continue their science explorations at home or in the classroom. 1pm. Recommended for families with children ages 7 through 12. Tickets are required and space is limited.

The program also holds Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, featuring guest organist Jonathan Rudy, and containing a melody called “so gorgeous that it seems plucked from an operatic love scene by Bizet or Gounod.”
