Harvest Frolic Fall Celebration
Celebrate the arrival of autumn with Lincoln Log Cabin’s annual Harvest Frolic on Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28 from 10am to 4pm daily. Activities will take place at both the Lincoln and Sargent farms including children’s games, doll making and hearth cooking. There will also be a three-legged race, a cast iron skillet toss, two-man saw contest and a “dipping cup race” and a special scavenger hunt will be open to children 12 years of age or younger. Visitors are encouraged to take part in these period games and activities. The Lincoln School Museum is a restored 1880’s one-room brick school located one mile north of Martinsville, Clark County, Illinois on a spur of the National Road. The Lincoln School Museum is open to the public on weekends from June through August and any time by appointment.

Mattoon Bagelfest 2014
Bagelfest is a 28 year old festival in Mattoon that began on the idea of hospitality. When the Lender’s Bagel Factory moved to Mattoon, not everyone in town knew about bagels. So Murray Lender introduced his product to the community with a free bagel breakfast held in downtown Mattoon. And then a festival was born. Through many changes and additions now the festival is more than three days of activities including three nights of nationally known musicians, carnival, food and craft vendors, dog show and baby contest and of course there is still a free bagel breakfast to celebrate the hospitality and generosity of Murray Lender.
Mattoon Mural Arts at Progress Square
Residents are encouraged to visit the mural, "Civility," and relax in the new surroundings at Progress Square. This mural by artist D.S. Gordon embraces the landscape, history and people of Mattoon. For years after the completion of the rail, many trains a day would meet at the intersection of the tracks at the center of town and determine right of way in polite fashion. This symbolizes the civility of a community with a 150-year history of working together, which the mural captures. One of many mural projects sponsored by the Mattoon Arts Council and the City of Mattoon.
Mattoon Welcome Center & Historic Railroad Depot
Mattoon Tourism & Arts Welcome Center is located in the historic Illinois Central Railroad Train Depot, which also still serves as the Amtrak Station for the Community. The original Railroad Depot was constructed in 1918 by the Illinois Central Railroad, and it was then remodeled in 2011. The Depot is still an active Amtrak Station with 3,000 passengers boarding and un-boarding per month. The welcome center offers a host of information: state-of-the-art schools & colleges, a growing economy, beautiful parks, lakes and sports amenities round out the more favorable quality of life found in Mattoon.

Riverbend Retreat is a fully renovated 1919 bungalow farmstead surrounded by the Embarras (Embraw) river valley, pasture and farmland. The house is divided into two suites, one on each floor. Sheep to Clothing at Lincoln Log Cabin
Follow the process of creating fabric in the 19th century, beginning with raw wool, our volunteers will take you through the entire spectrum of home based manufacturing process; quite literally from sheep to clothing. The Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation will kick off their fundraising campaign for the restoration of the Moore Home, scene of Abraham Lincoln’s family farewell before leaving for Washington DC in 1861, with a unique pledge drive. The site manager will be weaving Venetian Carpet throughout the day with pledges for the number of yards woven. Also enjoy the Victory Garden Plant Sale: the Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation will again be selling heirloom flowers, plants and herbs to raise funds to support the educational and interpretive programming at Lincoln Log Cabin. All events will run from 10am-4pm.
