Darrell Shemwell's Bar-B-Que was chosen "Best BBQ on the Old River Road" by Money magazine and was featured in the June 2003 issue of Chicago Magazine. Dozens of hummingbirds should be present to "wow" the observers. After the birds are captured and banded (through special permits), visitors may wish to adopt one (for a $5 donation to the Lincoln Land Association of Bird Banders, sponsor of the event) and have the privilege of releasing it back to the wild. Those who adopt birds will receive an attractive signed certificate and will be notified if their bird is ever recaptured. Held at the Trail of Tears State Forest pavilion, Jonesboro, 9:00 am to noon. There is no charge for the event.

Garden ornaments are nestled as focal points in evocative settings. Mown grass paths and shaded walks lead through a carpet of woodland treasures including spring ephemerals, wild Orchids, Spicebush, Witch hazel, and many more. They support our passion for gardening by designing and hand crafting Longshadow dry cast limestone planters and garden ornaments in buildings that blend into our rural surroundings. Their motto is Fabricia in Horto Nostro, Latin for “Factory in a Garden.” In their factory they hand craft the finest garden ornaments and planters in the world. In Longshadow Gardens, they strive to attain fleeting moments of memorable beauty.
Steam Shovel Coffee
Steam Shovel Coffee is a local business that was launched in 2011 and opened doors in 2012 out of Anna, Illinois. "Fresh roasted coffee beans to you." Randy Miller, owner and creator of the local business, was a painter by trade before getting into coffee. He was intrigued by coffee beans and how different regions and types of beans affect the outcome of the coffee. Steam Shovel Coffee uses fair trade Arabica coffee beans that are roasted in a hot air roaster with temperatures reaching 465 degrees. Miller's goal is to become a regional roaster in Southern Illinois. He wants Steam Shovel Coffee to be a good, smooth cup of coffee.
