Our secluded home sits high above it all on Cogan Drive in Galena Territory. It is surrounded by forest on three sides and has two decks, overlooking 10-15 miles of trees, farmland and pastures. It is located very close to the Owners Club pool and recreation facility and very close to the Marina. At the Marina one can rent row boats and pontoons for relaxation or fishing. Right outside our home and running through the entire territory are miles and miles of trails that are perfect for hiking and cross-country skiing. We are 2 minutes from the championship golf courses located at the resort. We are 10-15 minutes from the downhill skiing at Chestnut Mountain. This scenic 13-mile trail for hiking and biking through the rolling hill of northwest Illinois offers both history and nature. The trail, as it follows county and township roads, is partially paved. Attractions include early pioneer sites, one of the highest natural points in the state, and also Blackhawk war sites. Trail maps are available at the Lena Community Park District Office. For those who complete the trail, trail patches and medals are available for purchase.
