Lakelights Arts & Music Festival
One magical day, one magical night, synchronizing, amplifying, enjoying the light! Head over to The Stage at Lake Sara on July 18 for a day filled with great entertainment and fun. Doors open at 10 a.m. Enjoy live musical performances by Aaron Kamm and the One Drops, ClusterPluck, The Thinga-Ma Jug Band, and Garrett Burris and the Bathtub Hooch Band. Community events will take place throughout the day, including the LakeLights 5K at 7 a.m., great local food and drinks, morning flow yoga, face painting, the Effminster dog show, raffles and prizes, dance performances, a bounce house, a community drum circle, Hooping 101, live art demonstrations, evening meditation, and a kids' village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Moccasin Creek Festival
Moccasin Creek Festival is an annual 3-day music festival, which typically celebrates other arts and crafts as well. It takes place at beautiful Lake Sara in Summit Township, just west of Effingham, Illinois. The founder of Moccasin Creek Festival is Bill (Poss) Passalacqua, an Effingham native who has built his life around writing, performing and promoting music. National Road Covered Bridge
The Embarras River, near Greenup, was the site of a covered bridge built by Abe and Thomas Lincoln and Dennis Hanks. The original bridge was 200 feet long. The reconstructed bridge was dedicated in 2000.

Over 30 sculptures created by some of the Midwest's best known and unknown sculptors bring life to the streets of Effingham as part of the annual "Sculptures on the Avenues" outdoor exhibition. Sculptures on the Avenues is a self-guided walking tour that begins at City Hall, located at 201 E. Jefferson Ave. From there, the exhibition winds in and out of Downtown Effingham. An informative guide, which facilitates a walking tour, is available at the Effingham Visitors Center or City Hall.
Shelby County 4H & Jr. Fair
One of only a few fairs that still highlight their 4H and Juniors. The fair includes dog care and obedience, judging in livestock, poultry, rabbits, lambs, produce, flowers, plants, and many other subjects. The Food Shack serves plenty of great food each day of the fair manned by the various 4H Clubs in Shelby County. The fair wraps up with the popular livestock auction and team penning.

You will also want to hike the paths between our historic farms by torchlight to hear storytellers in the Lincoln Cabin and Sargent House there to entertain guests with seasonal stories. To benefit the educational and interpretation programs of Lincoln Log Cabin, the Foundation will be selling hot dogs and s’mores for you to roast over an open fire.
