ILBA Pub Crawl for Food Pantry
This charity event starts with Breakfast and Bloody Mary's at Ninth Street Pub and Ride Bikes to six other bar sponsors in a Poker Run Style and return to the Pub for door prizes and smokehouse food and music at 5pm. $15 donation - pub crawls through October 4th. Call 9th St. for details.
Storytelling at Fox Ridge
Many different storytelling events are held under the serenity of the pines at Fox Ridge, our outdoor education & entertainment venue, across from the main doors of the Lodge. Campfire Stories are every Saturday night from July through October. Join us and some of the Illinois Valley’s most engaging storytellers as they share stories, legends, facts and fiction around the fire. Audience participation is welcome so be ready for some fun! Storytime starts at 7:00 pm. Come and sit around the campfire and share your own stories as well as listen to stories told by professionals. Don't worry about the snacks. Popcorn and supplies for s'mores will be sold at the Fox's Den.
45th Annual Burgoo Festival
LaSalle County Historical Society's 45th Annual Burgoo Festival takes place in downtown Utica. Stroll the main streets of Utica for a day of crafts, shopping food and fun. While you are there be sure to try the pioneer stew (Burgoo). 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Basket Weaving - Weaving with Natural Elements
A relaxing beginner class with Leesa Tipton, that will teach you the art of basket weaving. Anyone can sign up regardless of skill level. This will be a beginner level basket where everyone will take home their finished basket. Project will be a small basket with a wooden base that will hold a Yankee Candle (not included) and woven with materials from common plants from local gardens. There will also be plenty of time for visiting and sipping wine. Included is all the weaving materials needed and a glass of wine and snacks. Class can accommodate 20 people and reservations are required. 6:30-8:30pm 7/10 & 9/18 at The Studio - Cattails.
Trolley Fall Colors Tour
Enjoy Starved Rock during the most beautiful time of the year. This fall tour includes a relaxing trolley ride, hot lunch in the rustic main dining room and a guided scenic hike to Council Overhang and Ottawa Canyon. Tours are available every Monday and Saturday in October. Reservations are required. Ticket prices are $30 per adult and $25 per child (10 and under).
New Year's Eve Overnight at Starved Rock Lodge
Join the party and stay the night on New Year's Eve-Dec. 31, 2014. Stay a night at the historic Starved Rock Lodge where the New Year's Eve party takes place in the Great Hall and Starved Rock Room. The two-sided fireplace is aglow and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The cocktail hour begins with an open bar and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a New Year's Eve Dinner Buffet, a champagne toast at midnight, 1:00 am pastries and brunch on New Year`s Day. Two live bands performing during the evening to keep you entertained!
Christmas Trolley Lights Tour
Relax before the holidays on this illuminated tour of the LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby and Utica area, just days before Christmas. Let the staff plan the route and do the driving so you can enjoy light displays in our fully enclosed trolley. The trolleys are heated but you may want to bring along an extra blanket. Each tour will have a guide to get into the holiday spirit through some Christmas carols and songs. Tours run from 6-8pm and reservations are a must.
Oktoberfest Dinners are a celebration of Germany! Enjoy food, beer, wine and music. Join the fun! Sample German wine and beer, a buffet of German foods and listen to music by the Doodledorfers Band. Reservations are required for this event. Food, beer, wine and music from 5:00-7:00pm.
Have you ever wanted to hike all the canyons in the park? Well now you can do it in one day. Board a trolley with a pair of guides and to begin your trek at the east end of the park. Hikes leave the Lodge at 8:30a.m. & 9:00a.m. and return at approximately 4:30 & 5:00p.m. Included is trolley transportation, guides, boxed lunch (1/2 way) and a specially designed T-shirt. Reservations are required. $35.00 per person.

October Moonlight Tours
If you’ve seen the grandeur of the Mansion during the day, just wait until it gets dark! Amid diffused lighting and soft shadows, guides will take guests back in time to tell the story of the Hegeler Carus family and their extraordinary home. Tours available: Friday, October 24 & 31, 2014 at 9:00pm, 10:00pm, 11:00pm. Online registration is required.
Valley Carvers Woodcarving Expo
See the exquisite craftsmanship of carvers from throughout the Midwest. Outside the Lodge, see chainsaw woodcarving in action and participate in raffles of woodcarvings and other items too. A wide variety of woodcarvings will be on display and available for purchase. Meet the artists and see who won blue ribbons on their carvings.
Tom Jones Tribute
John Truncali will start the show with hits from the Rat Pack, Ray Charles, Frankie Valli and Garth Brooks. After intermission, John Truncali will return so you can rediscover the hits that made Tom Jones famous, It's Not Unusual, Delilah, She's a Lady plus many more. The show begins at 11:30 AM, and a lunch buffet is included. Tickets are $32.
Starved Rock Lodge's Outdoor Woman Workshop
Trade your to-do list for a weekend for yourself and friends. Ever wanted to pull back a bow and shoot an arrow? How about learning the proper way to saddle a horse? This is a day filled with fun where women from all over will gather and learn nontraditional skills in a relaxed environment. Starved Rock Lodge and the National Wild Turkey Federation bring classes to this workshop, such as shooting. 5 workshops, 2 meals and snacks are included in both days events. The only class that will be offered on Friday is shooting and Friday is not sold alone. Call to reserve a spot! Participation in only Saturday's workshops is $65 and both days is $92 per person.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
A play based on the book written by Barbara Robinson in 1971. It tells the story of Imogene, Claude, Ralph, Leroy, Ollie, and Gladys, six delinquent children surnamed Herdman. They go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. Despite protests from other church members, they are given roles in the Sunday school's Christmas play, in which they tell the Christmas story in a non-conventional fashion.
Canal Connection 10K
This year marks the 165th Anniversary of the opening of the Illinois-Michigan Canal. Join runners in the Canal Connection and run along the Canal Tow path and end it the historic village of Utica.

Topic: "The TR! Show". Derek Evans presents "The TR! Show" at our November session. Mr. Evans brings to life the dynamic character of Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, the youngest President of the United States, was one of the most interesting men who ever lived. Throughout his life he was a cattle rancher, deputy sheriff, historian, naturalist, explorer, author of 35 books, police commissioner, assistant secretary of the Navy, governor of New York, war hero, lawyer, and the first American to win a Nobel Prize. Speaker, Mr. Evans was trained for the theatre at Northwestern University, New York University, and the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. As manager and director of the Monarch Theatre Company, he brought Shakespeare, Opera, and literary adaptations to schools throughout the American Midwest.
