Route 66 Memories Museum
Stop by this eclectic museum to explore the history of Route 66, car culture and local history. There is even a Rolls-Royce on display! The collection was brought together by a local historian with great stories to share. Located just a few doors from the Palm's Grill this museum is a must see.
Exhibits focused on Abraham Lincoln, Route 66, and other aspects of Atlanta’s history are featured. The Museum’s Local History Resource Center provides extensive genealogy materials accessible to the public. Housed in a beautifully restored 1867 building, the Atlanta Museum presents both permanent and new, rotating exhibits. Open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed Sundays.
J.H. Hawes Grain Elevator

Atlanta Public Library
Built in 1908, this National Register Property is one of Illinois’ few octagonal-shaped public libraries. Its gilded rotunda and interior rooms, filled with solid-oak woodwork, reflect its classic architecture. Local volunteers who comprise the “Keepers of the Clock” take turns on a weekly basis hand-winding the 1909 Seth Thomas clock housed in the library’s clock tower.

Creekside Outdoor Center for Environmental Education
Located along Sugar Creek, about five miles north of Lincoln, Creekside the Outdoor Center for Environmental Education will be an experiential outdoor classroom featuring an outdoor teaching pavilion, insectarium, greenhouse, and a restored prairie. It will include parking space, bioswales, rain gardens, and boardwalks and sidewalks to make the site handicapped-accessible. When complete it will be powered by solar panels and a wind generator.

Phone Booth on Lincoln City Hall
Built in 1895, the red brick for the building came from the Lincoln Coal Company. A unique telephone booth on the roof was added later and was used by weather spotters to phone in sighted storms. Built in 1922, the theater built by Steve Bennis opened in 1923 showing "John Quincy Adams Sawyer." It was originally a single screen featuring an organ and live stage shows as well. The number of screens was doubled in 1985 and then again in the mid nineties. Downtown Lincoln is a great place to grab dinner and a movie while exploring the Mother Road.

Historic Marbold Second Sunday Summer Series
Special programs in the farmstead kitchen: 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Enjoy lessons in history, tours of house and grounds and period craftsmen on site. July 12 features Eastern Illinois University Associate Professor, Dr. Chris Laingen, will share data from the Census of Agriculture from 1925 to 2012 and will illustrate the changes in crops, livestock, and land use that have occurred in the Corn Belt. A special added feature at the July Second Sunday will be the Menard County Vintage Ag Association on site with some of their collection of farm implements.
Historic Marbold Second Sunday Summer Series
The Farmstead will offer tours of the house and grounds, history of the Marbold family and light refreshments. The Stier Trolley will be available to take visitors through Greenview where a guide will provide details of the Marbold's influence and impact on the community.Exclusive for August: "One Grand Old Lady" Readers' Theatre.
C.H. Moore Homestead
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this restored mansion and grounds whisk visitors back to the Victorian era. Once home to Clinton attorney Clifton H. Moore, visitors will enjoy tours and stories of the friend and law partner of Abraham Lincoln who one resided there. Home of the DeWitt County Museum.
Lincoln Balloon Festival
Come enjoy the mass ascension of the hot air balloons in the skies of Logan County. Morning and evening flights both Friday and Saturday (weather permitting). At dusk, the balloons will come back to the Airport and re-inflate for evening glows. This is a spectacular event that is enjoyed by the young and old alike.
Arts in the Park
The Fine Art Fair will be held on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm at Latham Park in downtown Lincoln. Traditionally, over 70 juried artists from various mediums make this fine art fair one of Central Illinois’ best. We are proud to offer art of all mediums. Photography, water colors, ceramic, jewelry, pottery, mixed mediums, metal work, wood work, and many more.
