Civic Opera House
The world-renowned Lyric Opera of Chicago performs in one of North America's most beautiful opera houses, the Civic Opera House. The decorative character of the entire building is a hybrid of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. Comedy-tragedy masks and cornucopia of instruments abound as playful ornaments around entrances, inspired by the Paris Opera House designed by Jean-Louis-Charles Garnier. The famous painted fire curtain (depicting the parade scene from Aida) and the interior decoration details of the Civic Opera House were created by American artist Jules Guerin in a palette of salmon pinks, roses, olives, golds and bronzes.

Hosted by local bluegrass heroes Firebox, Tuscan Hills Winery will have two days of amazing picking, beautiful bowing and soaring vocal harmonies - we can't think of a more harmonious way to bring the summer to a close! This is a rain or shine event. Bring your lawn chairs! There will be a variety of great food and beverages including water, soda, coffee, tea, beer and wine available for purchase on the festival grounds. Parking is free and within 25 to 100 yards away from the venue & of course handicapped parking is available. All ages are welcome. Grayslake Summer Days
Family music festival with activities for the entire family. Music, carnival games, food vendors, business booth area and "Grayslake's Got Talent" Contest. Bike and pet parade - 12 noon Saturday. Green Fair on the Fox
Green Fair on the Fox features an eco-marketplace, local businesses, physical fitness and sustainable, healthy living. There will be food, live music, demonstrations and fun activities for the whole family! Over 65 vendors and exhibitors will be on hand showcasing their green product or service. Fun activities for kids and adults alike will be going on all throughout the fair. Musical entertainment on the Peg Bond Stage. Green Fair on the Fox will be held rain or shine.
This Art Deco-style jazz club in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood has a storied speakeasy past from the days of prohibition. Sit back and listen to some of the best jazz and cabaret music in the city at this elegant club that served as one of the locations for the hit film, High Fidelity. The Green Mill was patterned after Clark Monroe's Uptown House in Harlem (as it was during the 40's). Greene County Fair
This traditional county fair has been around since 1856 and continues to provide fun for the whole family! Don't miss the great food, entertainment, the annual Queen and Little Miss pageants, carnival rides, sand volleyball, mud drags, truck/tractor pulls, horse racing, and commercial vendors. Haunted America Conference
America's Original Ghost Conference (Founded in 1997 and often imitated, but never equaled) is back for our 20th year and will be held over the weekend of June 24-25, 2016, at the Atrium Hotel in Haunted Alton, Illinois. Join us as we return to "one of the most haunted small towns in America" and present new and returning favorite speakers on ghosts, hauntings, monsters, the supernatural, and the unexplained. The 2016 event will include lectures and presentations, a speaker's panel, haunted tours, ghost hunts, "strange stuff", the Haunted America Masquerade Party and much more! Admission is $50/person for General Admission.
Heartland Community College
The Heartland Community College campus is a community resource that may be scheduled as available for activities consistent with the mission and policies of the College and Board of trustees. the campus includes several conference rooms, classrooms, computer labs and an auditorium that can hold 430 people. All of these spaces can be reserved through the special events department.
Hemmens Cultural Center
Home of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, this facility contains a 1200-seat theatre and an 11,340 square foot exhibition hall with fully equipped banquet kitchen. Host to many well-known artists.
Henry County Fair
A week long summer event showcasing Henry County’s premier agricultural talent; area residents display their livestock, art and garden pride. Watch, or better yet, partake in the tractor pull or demolition derby. Food and carnival rides for all to enjoy.
Highwood Days & Taco Fest
This year marks the 48th anniversary of Highwood’s oldest festival.
