The 18th Annual Lincolnshire Art Festival

Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad and Silvercreek Museum Labor Day Celebration
All aboard the antique steam train as a 36 ton, 1912 Heisler steam locomotive pulls three cabooses, and two passenger flatcars for a four mile ride through farmlands and across a bridge 30 feet above Yellow Creek. Purchase your ticket at the Silver Creek Depot, a turn-of-the-century replica filled with railroad artifacts. Browse for novelties in the Freight House and visit the Silvercreek Museum which offers 25 rooms of early Americana, a display of antique machinery, Henney Motor Company vehicles which were manufactured in Freeport, and the operating Cooper-Corliss engine, a giant 130 ton steam engine. The 26th Annual Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days will be held at John A Logan College. It is the largest celebration of Hunting and Fishing Day in the country. This 200+ vendor show offers something for the whole family. Bass Fishing and Crappie seminars, catfish contest, Goose calling contests, Dock Dogs competitions, retriever demonstrations and a kids fishing hole are just a few of the activities throughout the weekend.
The 12th Annual Buffalo Grove Invitational Art Festival
Currently rated as one of the top 100 art festivals in the country, the festival hosts more than 100 juried artists from around the globe. Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to watch the masters at work with art demos and booth chats taking place all weekend long! In addition to the work of the 100 juried artists, festival-goers will have the opportunity to view and purchase works from young artists, ages 18 and under, who participate in the Youth Art Division of the festival taking place on Sunday. Mendota Sweet Corn Festival
Tons of free, hot, buttered, delicious Del Monte sweet corn will be the highlight of the 68th annual Sweet Corn Festival to be held in Mendota, Illinois on August 6-9. The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the gigantic undertaking of hosting over 60,000 visitors, who consume nearly 50 tons of sweet corn during the festival weekend. Don't miss the excitement for the festival offers a variety of entertainment events for the entire family. The events take place primarily in the downtown area, and with the exception of the beer garden, have no admission fees or parking fees. Free musical entertainment is in abundance. The Crafters Market Place and flea market features over 200 dealers in hand made crafts and unique merchandise. There is a Queen Pageant, beer garden with live bands, grand parade and a carnival with rides and games for both adults and children, plus much more. The midways are lined with food booths, featuring a multitude of ethnic, regional and festival foods, but the "BIG EVENT" is the serving of the free Del Monte sweet corn on Sunday afternoon. For over 65 years, it has been cooked to its golden goodness with the help of a vintage steam engine. If you would like to take some of the memories of Mendota's Sweet Corn Festival home with you, the Mendota Chamber will be selling fresh Del Monte sweet corn by the bag on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the festival. The good times are waiting, the welcome mat is out, come to Mendota for one of the Midwest's oldest and largest harvest festivals, the 67th annual Sweet Corn Festival.

Harvest Frolic Fall Celebration
Don't miss experiencing 19th century life on the farm! Activities will take place at both the Lincoln and Sargent farms and will include children's games, craft and doll making, and hearth cooking. Visitors are encouraged to take part in period games and activities. Volunteers will demonstrate apple cider pressing, and food preservation. A number of artisans will be on site demonstrating their crafts including, woodcarving, flax processing, soap making, embroidery, pottery, basket weaving, blacksmithing, wheat weaving, and tatting. Gerry Barker will bring his oxen, the Unreconstructed Civil War Band will perform, and be sure to catch the puppet show. Don't miss the Frolic 5K! A 5k run and mile walk to kick off the festivities on Saturday.

Arcola Broom Corn Festival
Arcola celebrates its heritage as the “Broom Corn Capital of the World” with this renowned festival held in downtown. Visitors can see broom activities, arts/crafts, great food, free entertainment, National Broom Sweeping Contest on Main Street and gigantic parade featuring the famous Lawn Rangers.
Celebrate Bloomington's Lincoln connections and the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War with a weekend of activities at multiple sites. Highlights will include Storyteller Brian Fox Ellis, Civil War generals, infantry and cavalry encampments, performances by the 33rd Illinois Volunteer Regiment Band and the Orpheus Mandolin Orchestra. Living history interpreters in period dress, including Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln, will be on hand at numerous locations. Children's activities, carriage rides and demonstrations of period craftsmanship will also be features, along with cannon volleys and skirmishes between troops and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Highland Park's Art Center's Festival of Fine Arts
Situated on the beautiful tree-lined streets surrounding TAC, the revamped festival will showcase original works from 120 juried artists. Exceptional examples of fine arts and fine craft, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, wood and more will be featured at the festival. The Art Center’s Festival of Fine Arts will offer activities for children and families, as well as live entertainment and tasty festival treats throughout the weekend. Art enthusiasts will get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making these original works of art with live art demos taking place at the festival.
Half Century of Progress
Static displays, parts vendors, flea market and, of course, the nearly 200 acres of cropland to be harvested and tilled during the Half Century of Progress make this a show that has to be seen! Nowhere else can you see vintage machines strut their stuff in real life field conditions as they were built to do, and not just for a few minutes at a time. From the earliest days of tractor power to the horsepower explosion of the 1970's, it will all be represented here and at work in the field, not just sitting and looking pretty.
Marshall Autumn Fest
Located on the Courthouse Square and featuring a variety of events, amazing food, live entertainment, vendors and so much family fun. Includes a car/truck/motorcycle show and a large parade on Saturday at 11am.
This Annual Event starts at 9am with rib-cookers firing-up the grills and Tour de Donut bicycle racers riding through the main street. Ribfest is 50+/- rib cook-off that is full of fun, music, food and fun. The cook-off winners will receive cash prizes for their art in grilling. The ribs will be available at 5pm for purchase. However, local food and drinks will be available all day.
61st Art Fair on the Square
Art fair consisting of selected exhibitors' work in a variety of disciplines including: ceramics, digital art, drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, graphics/printmaking, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture & wood. Silhouetted against classical architecture and stately mature trees, the artists set up their outdoor galleries around historic Market Square. There will also be a children's art tent for the creative little ones.

Bishop Hill Clay and Fiber Fest
Interact with skilled potters and a variety of fiber artists during this two day event. Artists are featured in an indoor/outdoor classroom at Bishop Hill's Prairie Arts Center. Potters of all levels will demonstrate wheel throwing and hand building techniques, the Native American art of horse hair pottery, pit and raku firing processes and more. Learn weaving, spinning, rug hooking and broom making. Make and take activities will be conducted both days. Jansson 5, a Bishop Hill-based group, will entertain with their diverse musical style in the village park Saturday afternoon, and an old-fashioned pie and ice cream social will be held there, too. Saturday evening, a soup supper takes place in the Bishop Hill Colony School. For $10, attendees can pick out a hand-thrown bowl, fill it with homemade soup, and take the bowl home afterward.

Civil war reenactment will line Lake Andover offering a glimpse into the past. An antique and lawn and farm tractor show will be held at the museum grounds. Gather for the concerts and grab a bite to eat from one of the many food vendors to choose from. Artisans and craft vendors will be featured throughout the grounds. Kids will enjoy the fishing derby. Greenville Graffiti Car Show
The 4th annual car show is open to pre-1990 cars and trucks for judging. Plaques are given to the top vehicles. The car show will feature Butch Patrick and Pat Priest, Eddie and Marilyn on “The Munsters,” signing autographs.
Quad City Balloon Festival
Join in on the fun during the Quad Cities Balloon Festival in September. Featuring beautiful and colorful hot air balloons, the festivities take place at the Rock Island County Fair Grounds in East Moline, Illinois. Admission to attend the Quad Cities Balloon Festival is free, although a free will donation of non-perishable food items is appreciated. The Hardin County Heritage Festival is held the Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and celebrates the county’s rich heritage and history. Arts in the Park

72nd Annual National Sweetcorn Festival
Held each year over Labor Day weekend, the National Sweetcorn Festival is best known for distributing over 50 tons of free, antique steam engine cooked, sweetcorn each year! Traditional carnival rides and grandstand events are additional highlights throughout the weekend, and the festival is home to the annual National Sweetheart pageant, a highly recognized pageant in which nine former contestant have gone on to become Miss America.
Annual Chicken Wing Contest
The Annual Chicken Wing Cook off at Hill Prairie Winery is a large festival that features competing chefs preparing their favorite (and often unique) wing flavors. Visitors can purchase wings and vote for their favorites. The music of Dueling Pianos is back by popular demand, so enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon in the rolling hills of beautiful Hill Prairie Winery in Oakford, Illinois. Bishop Hill Honor Flight Benefit
The spirit of giving each year is renewed by the Bishop Hill, The Filling Station Restaurant who organizes the annual fundraiser to send the Quad Cities area veterans to Washington, D.C. part of the Honor Flight Network. A barbeque rib dinner, that’s finger licking good right off the grill starts the festivities. Patriot Guard and Legion Riders ride into town and kick off the festivities with an invocation and presentation of colors. Patriotic music is provided throughout the event as well as unique military exhibits and a military retreat is held promptly at 1800 hours with a 21 gun salute and taps. A live auction of donated items, including, locally made artisan craft to sports memorabilia and more is the highlight of the day, besides the eating that is. Golf cart shuttle service from outlying parking areas will be provided to Village Park by Cambridge Cart Sales. Area veterans are provided with a free trip to visit their memorial with priority given to survivors of World War II, Korean War, and any veteran with a terminal illness. Honor Flight Quad Cities operates on donations from organizations and individuals. Representatives from the Honor Flight organization attend the fundraiser. All proceeds from the day’s events are donated to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, $60,000 and counting. 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
