Mississippi Earthtones Festival
Come celebrate life on the Mississippi River through art, music, and conservation! The event will kick-off with a river clean-up beginning at 9 a.m. The festival is part of a statewide celebration of our rivers and an opportunity to learn more about the environmental issues in our region and solutions. The festival will feature informational booths on ecology, native plants & animals and recycling, as well as arts & crafts, food vendors, litter clean-ups, organized hikes & bike rides, and live music! Plano will be celebrating in super-style. This family-friendly festival commemorates the summer of 2011 when Superman’s enemies came to town and destroyed it during filming of the blockbuster movie, “Man of Steel.” Popular events include the Superman Zipline, the Villian’s Jail, live bands throughout the weekend, old-fashioned children’s games, rock climbing wall, inflatables for the kids and several contests. The Smallville Museum where many different movie and Superman artifacts are housed will be open during the festival. Take advantage of the photo opportunity with the full size statue of Henry Cavill as Superman. See also the cool cars of Cruise Night, live bands and beer tent.

This fun, food-filled event showcases the ever-popular taste of Garlic. Attendees come to sample a variety of garlic creations from out-of-the-ordinary garlic ice cream, candy, cupcakes and cocktails, to the more usual pastas, sauces, breads, and butters. Held during the Evening Market, the fest features a Taste of Garlic Competition for the Savory and Sweet categories, as well as the very popular Garlic Queen and Princess Competitions. Each summer, Montgomery Fest brings together neighbors and friends from throughout the area to enjoy a weekend of old-fashioned family fun. Kid'Cation Scavenger Hunt at the Tower
Take part in the Kid'Cation Confluence Tower Scavenger Hunt July 29 through Aug. 7 and earn fun prizes! All children who tour the Tower can participate. Tour guides will provide a special Scavenger Hunt activity sheet and give clues throughout the tour. At the end of the tour, children will receive a special gift. For this event, the Tower is offering reduced tour rates of $1 per child and $2 for adults.

Urbana Sweetcorn Festival
The Urbana Sweetcorn Festival is Champaign County’s largest free festival. Urbana’s signature summer event is a two-day celebration of food, live music, arts and crafts and of course - all the delicious, locally grown sweet corn you can eat. Taking place in the heart of downtown Urbana, the 2016 festival will run Friday, August 26 from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Wild Game Festival
Head out to the Brown County Fairgrounds for a culinary adventure! Bring your friends for the wild hog roast, check out the vendor booths, test your luck in the raffle, and there are activities for kids. Did we mention the food? Chet Kingery Memorial Bluegrass Festival
The 4th Annual Chet Kingery Memorial Bluegrass Festivall will be held at The Great Pumpkin Patch this year. Headliners include Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper and Blue Mafia. The combination of talent from award winning nationally known groups to local entertainment is sure to please all attendees. All the bands will perform a mixture of traditional and bluegrass/gospel music.
23rd Annual Potawatomi Trails Pow Wow
The Potawatomi Trails Pow-Wow is the only event of its kind in this area. This celebration of the Native-American heritage heightens the awareness of the history, traditions and customs of the heritage. Specific activities include demonstrations, music and dance presentations, educational sessions and a trader area.
Gardenstock Art & Music Festival
The Gardenstock Art & Music Festival to benefit Sinnissippi Center’s Youth Gardening Program will be held at Distinctive Gardens in Dixon. There will be live music featuring 9 bands performing from 11am to 11pm. An art festival runs from 10am – 6pm and food vendors will be on site from 11am to 8pm. This event will feature food trucks from around the region offering global street food cuisine. In addition, the amphitheater’s concession team will offer beverages of all types to compliment the food trucks. Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival
The dragons are coming to Blue Island for the inaugural Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival. Watch these long 20-seat boats with a dragon decoration on the outside mimic the old war canoes of ancient Asian past. This ancient Chinese sport has become one of the fierce competitions throughout the world, and is growing rapidly in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States. 9AM-3PM.
Walgreens Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival
Come see the world's fastest growing water sport at Lake Arlington. Twenty paddlers move in unison, combining strength with teamwork in a boat whose elaborate design originates in ancient China.

Pere Marquette Rendezvous
Step back in time to the days when frontier fur trappers met with fur traders and buyers during this reenactment festival at Pere Marquette State Park. The Second Annual Pere Marquette State Park Rendezvous will be a traditional Pre-1840 event with buckskinned re-enactors portraying primitive traders and campers. There will be period demonstrations, black powder and longbow shoots, camp music and food common to days on the Illinois frontier. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.
DuPage County Fair

139th Annual Summer Festival Oktoberfest in August
Fun times for all ages at the annual Octoberfest held at the Schwaben Center. German Food, 800 seat beer tent, live music, dancing, arcades, giant slide and free baggo. Friday night is rock and roll night, Saturday music by Amazing Mike, One Man Band, German music and dancers performing throughout the day. Glencoe Festival of Art
Free and open to the public, the Glencoe Festival of Art will showcase the work of more than 110-juried artists from across the country in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry, and wood. In addition to the incredible artwork available for purchase, attendees will be able to interact with artists through demonstrations and booth chats. The 44th annual Autumn Craft & Treasures Market, sponsored by the Sycamore Music Boosters, is part of the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival weekend October 29 & 30, 2016. This event will be held at the Sycamore High School Fieldhouse, Saturday, October 29 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, October 30 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There are over 250 vendors featuring a wide variety of quality crafts, handmade wood products, specialty items such as wool products, candles, spices, candies, antiques, ceramics and much more.
