Frankfort Half Marathon
The Frankfort Half Marathon will begin and end in the beautiful historic district of downtown Frankfort. The race will commence right outside the door of Running Excels on the Old Plank Trail and run westward. After 2.7 miles of running on the scenic, tree-lined Old Plank Trail, the racers will turn off into the Hickory Creek Forest Preserve. The rolling hills of the forest preserve will provide a picturesque tour for the runners as they reach the halfway and turn-around point in the race. The runners will then proceed back through the forest preserve and to the Old Plank Trail for their final journey towards the finish line and the post-race party on the Breidert Green. 7AM.

12th Annual Spring Housewalk
"Decades of Design in River Forest" is the theme of our 2015 spring house walk, which features five homes in River Forest, spanning 125 years of architectural design and community history. The 12th annual walking tour of the interiors of five private homes takes place from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 3rd. This year's walk puts the spotlight on the wide variety of homes in the village, from the landmark Blocki House, built around the time the village was incorporated in 1880, to a contemporary home built in 2005 which features a glass atrium. Advanced tickets are $30, $25 for members and can be purchased on our website. Tickets also can be purchased for $35 on the day of the walk at Christ Episcopal Church.

7th Annual Rock 4 Autism
This year we have five bands, 50/50 raffles, live onsite painting by a local artist; a drum circle for kids, face painting, a bounce house, a beautiful silent auction and live auction items throughout the day. Not to mention an amazing lineup of talented musicians and bands to entertain us throughout the day! Music lovers will find music-related artwork, concert tickets, a signed guitar, as well as live private party shows with a couple of the participating bands. The auction is rounded out by items including carpet cleaning services, dental whitening procedures, boat rides, Cub tickets, wine git baskets, children's baskets, food baskets, handmade jewelry, and restaurant certificates. Quiz Quest with The Trivia Knights is an interactive night of games and music. Quiz Quest is the only live game show in town. RiverWatch Volunteer Stream Monitoring Workshop
The Illinois RiverWatch Network is a statewide, non-profit, volunteer stream monitoring program. Volunteers are trained and certified as “Citizen Scientists” to monitor and protect a local stream. Upon completing training and becoming certified, volunteers adopt a stream site and examine indicators of water quality like stream habitat and the diversity of species such as dragonfly nymphs, beetle larva, midges, and snails. Citizen Scientists play an important role in helping identify potentially degraded waters and areas that may need better protection. University of St. Francis, 9am-4pm.
